on the dvr recorder that that comes as equipent

duhhh I have been reluctant to even use it because I thought I would have to move the dvr recorder elsewhere to view what I have taped, but from commercials I find out I can record and then view on another remote location---one of the three that we have. so.....can someone walk me through how to record on the recorder and view on a remote...?

You have to have the THDVR upgrade in order for that to work.

From one of the non-DVR STBs press the "Recorded TV" button. If nothing happens then you do not have the upgrade yet.

If it takes you to the Recorded TV menu then you can select a recorded show and watch it that way.

You can only record shows from the DVR, not the other STBs (receivers). If you press the "Recorded TV" button on the remote for one of the non-DVR STBs what happens?

It will show you what programs have been recorded or are recording and allow you to watch or "play" them.

Think of the NON-DVR boxes as Video PLAYERS.

i did a test recording and it worked fine, recording on the main and playing on the remote. now...how much does the dvr hold? like my regular vcr tapes of 8 hours or 6 hours?

It's about 133 hours for Standard Def shows and 24 hours of HD.

I think I remeber reading on the AT&T site something like 37 hours of HD OR 120 hours of SD.

well if 120 or 133, another number I was told, it = buncha tapes. I get backed up during world series playoffs and the game and then again football playoffs. Regardless, I have an idea so thanks to everyone for their help.

I have another dumb question. After the first time I used the DVR, I erased what I tested. Then I got a message the next day that we had been upgraded for free, whatever that entails. Now I notice that i going through what I have recorded, no way to erase, says it will stay on until the space is needed. pleeease, I reallly want to delete what I have seen.

Choose a program from the recorded list, click OK.

Should see a list on the left...restart, play, erase, etc.

If you arent seeing those options, try a soft reset. Hold the power button in on the DVR for about 5 seconds till you see the lights flash.

Yes, you can only erase from the DVR, not any of the other STB's that you have played back your recordings.

I know they plan on offering other things as other phases of THDVR get rolled out. I wonder if being able to erase a program from an STB will be one of those options, maybe not because of the HD?
