You say it. Xbox finds it.
Actually, the November dashboard update IS the whole reason that Microsoft is saying you will need a gold account for having UVerse TV on your Xbox.

If we are going to use the new dashboard to view U-verse content, I wonder if the current Uverse application is going to be disabled somehow...

I already have several unused 1 year membership cards. Up until now I had no need to activate them because I don't play online or use Netflix or Hulu. So what I am going to do is activate one and then pay the $40 difference for a family pack, and then I'll have 4 Gold memberships.

I might be wrong on this but the family pack will take your remaining time and convert 2 months into 1 month of a family pack. So if you load one year, you'll still be on the hook for half the cost. I can't remember how much I had to pay when I converted to a family pack a few months back.

That conversion happens when you bring in a family member whom already has a Gold account and you fold them into a family plan. If you have a pre-existing Gold account and want to convert it into a Gold one, the amount you pay gets discounted by $5 for each month you have remaining on your single Gold account.

I had to update the Uverse App on my Xbox this morning, does anyone know what it was for? I have the feeling it is in preperation for the Xbox system update coming next month, I have not tried any Kinect stuff with the app yet as i had to get ready for work. I will try tonight and report back unless someone else can confirm the details of the update.

Looks like Microdsoft will be looking for beta testers to the new dashboard soon. Have your console ID and serial numbers ready! I'm sure that they'll want UVerse users to beta test for them.

There was an Xbox Live update that went live this morning, it apparently is just a maintenence update and doesn't add any features.
The Uverse App did not update in my location...

After the dashboard beta update, the only way I can start watching AT&T U-verse is by setting U-verse as the Xbox startup action and restarting the Xbox. How do I reinstall it?

Not 100% true. The AT&T app for the Xbox hasn't be updated to the new dashboard yet (neither has Netflix or Hulu Plus among other apps)
In order to get to the UVerse app, go to the apps header -> my apps -> AT&T UVerse.

Announced earlier today the new dashboard will be distribuited to everyone on December 6th along with all of the TV media functionality. So this will be the date of when you will be required to have a gold account to watch U-Verse on your Xbox.

I don't think that the Uverse update is happening right away with the new dash update. Microsoft has just announced that the Verizon update isn't happening until "later in December" and the Comcast update isn't happening until "Early 2012". Given that the (unseen) Uverse update is going to be more sophisticated than either one of those other TV services, it is probably go to be a while before that update comes to fruition...

If you also read on there it claims that the Epix, Dailymotion,UFC, and SciFi apps won't launch until December. For me I've already gotten those apps on my Xbox with the new Dashboard beta.
You also have to remember that Microsoft owns the Mediaroom platform that U-Verse runs on. The ability for them to have that ready to go tomorrow is much greater than on Verizon and Comcast's services since they have to integrate into those services.
I'm more lieky to believe that when the Verizon Kinect update is released, the AT&T update will be released at the same time.

I guess it depends on whom you believe is "really in control". Mediaroom was available for the Xbox (and PC) about a year before at&t decieded to roll it out. I'm sure that the sofware may be ready in some sort of capacity, but I am sure that at&t wants to brand it and test it out more before they roll it out, and allow new customers to use the service on the Xbox.
I have seen plenty of instances of Mediaroom/Uverse on the Xbox shown/demonstrated before it was rolled out, but not this time. Since the Comcast/Verizon services are not full instances of Mediaroom, I would think they would be easier to implement than revamping the Uverse implentation.
I guess we will see in less than 24hrs....

The app launches on December 6.

AT&T was one of the first groups to implement the Xbox STB for all of the mediaroom platforms. I'm not saying that the Kinect Uverse integration will happen tomorrow, I'm saying that it will happen at the same time or earlier than Verizon and Comcast's integration.

I'm on the beta for the new dashboard that's coming out tomorrow, but there isn't any new integration with U-Verse that wasn't there with the old dashboard. And no I don't think that there will be an official Android or iPhone app for the Xbox Companion, but I do see some app maker attempting to make a copy for each of those platforms.

I just find it interesting that at&t wasn't mentioned at all in their Microsoft's press release, even just to mention that it is already available on the Xbox platform. Renderings of the service (on the new dashboard) on Comcast & Verizon have been shown but at&t's has not, which is why I question how far along their version is in the first place. IMO i dont see anything happening until somtime in 2012.
I think at&t issue now is how they are going to charge for the new kit. Officially the old kit is $99, unofficially it is $49 plus the $55 truck roll fee. Now on top of that people need to pay ~$60/year to Microsoft just to even use the service. I think it is going to be a tough sell, which is why they probably suspended sales of the kits so they could figure it out.

I doubt that Microsoft will be making an iPhone or Android App (at least not right away), since they are trying to promote their own Windows mobile platform.
Microsoft already made a simular app for the Windows phone last year to integrate with their Mediaroom platform, but at&t made their own app for iPhone that allowed you to program your DVR and watch a selection of TV shows, and there are new apps like BuddyTV that allows you to use your iphone as a remote control that can control the Uverse DVR or any Uverse STB, including Xbox...
