We got the new wireless at&t box the other week, and it keeps losing signal i guess? we moved the wireless box closer to the at&t box but every once in awhile it keeps losing service. the dvr recordings go blank, we have to unplug and plug it back in for it to start receiving the signal again. annoying! anyone know how to fix this?

We are experiencing the same problem only the wifi WiFi signal is always strong suggesting it's an internet or streaming problem. We also have a problem watching HD on demand as the show or movie constantly freezes up or the audio goes out. Unplugging it every couple of days is not a satisfactory fix for this issue which is what they want you to do every time you call tech support. I think I would have returned it already but except I bought it. Let us know if you find a fix!

That is the exact same problem we are having, the signal on the box says its full green, but it freezes and we have to turn it off and turn it back on. Also usually when you restart it the audio will be gone, we will have to turn the tv off and on again for it to work. Earlier today i had to restart it because it froze and the picture was messed up, it was extremely darker than usual. restarted it and it fixed it, waiting 5 minutes for it to restart every 20 mins is VERY annoying. having tried watching anything on ondemand so i cant say anything about that though.

I am having similar problems. The picture freezes, usually restarts in a stuttering way without sound, but sometimes the screen goes black. I also get the message "Press OK to view recordings" randomly. I always have a strong signal. Both the receiver and the WAP have been replaced. I love the look of the wireless box, but I agree that it's extremely annoying to have to either sit and wait for the picture to resolve itself, or actually have to restart the box. I have a brand new 55" Samsung that is connected to the box by an HDMI cable. I want to keep the box for aesthetic reasons, but would sure like to know if there is a fix for the assorted problems.

Some seem to be having problems while others are not. It would nice to if there is a pattern that we can detect. It would be interesting to know the following information for those who are having issues:
1. How is the receiver connected to the TV
2. Which brand of TV do you have?

Even though my Wireless receiver shows full signal it fails frequently and shows the message that it has lost the connction. After various checks I can force this to happen fairly regularly. I have noticed that if I use my iPhone and download anything or carry out application updates the Wireless box loses the connection. Without Wireshark i would guess that the box is being deprived of bandwidth and hence loses the connection. Anyone else notied anything similar?

I'm having the same problem with my wireless receiver. For some reason it loses the signal when I watch shows that I have recorded with the DVR. I lose the signal and have to restart the entire system for it to work again.
This is getting frustrating. I'm about to tell them to come pick this mess up and put an actual cable connection in my room and let me have the wired box.

First question would be do you have the new Wireless Recievers by Cisco? If you did then you would be able to answer your own question. That's why nobody really responded to your 2nd post. The issue is not with how it is connected it's "WIRELESS" and upon setup there are on-screen directions guiding you through not allowing you to pass until each required step is completed. TV brand does not matter. The problem begins with the wireless gateway bridge that was sent with the wireless boxes as I personally found out. Daily everyone who ventured to BUY into AT&T new "Wireless" ecosystem have issue with frozen picture, black screen, HDMI error or lost picture to just name a few of the miriad of issues. AT&T tech support suggest resetting the boxes, then your DVR box, reset the wireless hub and if all of that fails then you need a tech sent to your home. Usually power recycle fixes it but it will happen at least 2 to 3 more times in the same day. Do you know of a way to circumvent the only known setup that will remedy those issues?

I've got the same problem. I'm on the second wireless receiver, and by the context of my go-round with tech support, they were out of ideas and decided just to send me a new wireless receiver. Still no dice; I get the "lost signal" display every once in a while, and most often, I just get nothing but snow on the TV.
I've got the Cisco wireless STB connected to an old TV via coax. Very frustrating.

I am also having problems with my wireless receiver and for the past week, it has happened EVERY night after midnight while I'm watching DVR. Last night I had to reset three times. I get these messages: "Network problems have stopped this stream. The program is not currently available for playing." "Recording playback is unavailable. Make sure this TV receiver and the DVR receiver are connected to the network." I have a full signal on the wireless receiver and everything appears to be in working order on both the router and the wireless connection box that is attached to the router. I'm feeling like I need to call Tech Support and get them to give me a wired box. I never wanted the wireless one in the first place.

Yes. Of course, it might be a problem with the new wireless receivers. But Texas Guy asked those questions with a purpose in mind and one of the other posters gave an answer that suggests why. In the past HDMI has sometimes been a problem with certain brands of TV's. So YES, TV brand does matter. AND....Samsung is one of the brands (another one is Sharp) that has had HDMI problems. The solution to that problem has traditionally been to discard the HDMI connection and switch to component cables. No loss in quality and the problem usually goes away.
Now, AT&T has moved into the wireless receiver marketing and....yes....there may be problems here as well. But, honestly, we subscribers who volunteer our efforts on this forum do not have enough experience with these new receivers to be able to diagnose the problems with just the rather sketchy information provided. We do have some AT&T employees on here and some technically proficient forum members who may be able to help.
But....first, if it were me, I try the switch over to component cables between the receiver and the TV set. IF that helps....so good. If it doesn't...well...at least one variable has been eliminated. In my world that is called "troubleshooting 101."
My little buddy, Alfie, is a typical West Highland White Terrier....possessing no small amount of self-esteem.

I just installed the wireless STB today and I was having problems with playback of recordings from the DVR. I was using an HDMI cable but after reading your response I decided to try the component cable and darn if it didn't correct my problem. My TV is a Samsung and that is what really cought my eye. Thanks for the useful information.

I too am having the same issues that everyone else mentions. The "press ok to view recording" and more recently a message that says something about switching to live tv to allow recording, even though none are scheduled at that point. I have moved the access point in direct line probably 10 feet from the wireless box with no obstructions and still get these messages. I have a Panasonic tv, and have tried both component and hdmi cables with no changes in the problems. I've call tech non-support so many times to get the same tired "reboot" fix that I no longer even try that. I've changed both the access point and the wireless receiver (after telling tech support that either they swap them or lose my business) with no differences.
I'm just annoyed that AT&T did so little testing of these before rushing them to market. I'm a computer developer, and if I rushed my systems to the users without significant testing I'd be unemployed. Yet I still see countless ads touting the new wireless boxes. Sure wish someone at AT&T would listen and actually try to fix the problems.

Do a hard reboot of your RG. Sometimes the software for some reason may hang or even get corrupted. I was seeing that error and I did a hard reboot of the RG and the dvr. I unplugged the ac cable from the RG for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. After it reboots do the same thing with your dvr.

We had Uverse installed in 12/2011 and have had nothing but problems with WR, mostly with the DVR function. Finally had time to call, actually my wife called and the level 1 technician asked her all sorts of technical questions, which she could not answer. Finally he asked her whether we had coax or fiber, which basically means he was stringing her along and had no desire to help.
I finally got through to level 2 and after 75 minutes the tech said he changed the channel to 10 from automatic, rebooted and all was good, which would have happened had I left the WR on for an hour.
Next day I called level 2 with the same issue and they agreed to send a replacement WRY which was changed out upon receipt. 2 hours later same problem.
Called level 2 again and spoke with, probably the most stolid person I have come across in my life. Lethargic, uninterested and little command of the English language saying I would pay $150 for a site visit.
Tech arrived today and said this was a common occurrence since an upgrade and the only way to restore some semblance of service is to reboot both wireless transmitter and WR, which is somewhat ridiculous given the $$$ paid to ATT.
Bottom line ATT is not aligned with resolution of this common issue and provides no solution either from a service or payment perspective.
Will try for remuneration and let all know.

I had a coax wired box that needed the coax replaced. It was the old original cable and would lose signal and stutter horribly. Tech came and replaced with wireless box. 5.1 now works correctly and I'm pretty happy.
Started noticing Press OK to see recorded programs message while I'm watching a recorded program. I have full green bars and box is really only about 30 - 40' from RG. It happened 3 times watching a program last night. Starting to think they need to come and replace the 150' of coax it would take to get the new cable back to the box. Would that take care of it? Would they swap the box back to wired only, so I'd be back to no 5.1 working?

Call TS and see if they will turn up the wireless signal on your RG. It has been over a year but I talked to a csr and they increased mine. Or at least they said they did. That might improve that issue.

Since the wireless signal is coming from the WAP and not the RG, any thoughts about turning up wireless is meaningless unless there's some method to tweak the WAP. Tech support is, in my experience, not the least bit helpful with the wireless receivers. There has to be a major bug in the firmware either on the WAP or the wireless receiver. ATT rushed this to market without adequate testing, charges us a one-time fee and a monthly charge for defective equipment. I've aked if I can get the one-time fee refunded if I return them. The pat answer is NO.

Has anyone tried hooking up the wireless box via coax? Does that get rid of the "Press OK to see recorded Programs" while you are watching a recorded program? How do you turn off the wireless part, just disconnect the WAP? It would probably be worth it for me to just go ahead and run a new line of coax so I can keep the box for the 5.1 fix if that fixes this annoyance.

The wireless receiver cannot be connected using coaxial cable; however, it can be connected using cat5 (i.e. Ethernet) cable. When using cat5 cable for the connection, the WAP would need to be unplugged from the RG because it would interfere with the connection to the wireless receiver.

I hadn't looked on the back closely. I saw a coax and thought it was a network coax, forgot about RF coax out since I hadn't used one in a long time. I can't run an ethernet cable to this box. I'll give it a week or so and reset everything one more time, but not holding out much hope that until there is a FW upgrade, that it will be acceptable. When it works, it is great, but the "Press OK to see Recorded Programs" banner while I'm watching is horrible. There is no way that I've found to dismiss the banner without stopping the show, going back to recorded programs, and hoping I can resume instead of having to fast forward to where I was.
Anyone else having the same issue? How often is it happening for you? How far is your box from the new WAP?

If you cannot wire cat5, can you move the RG closer to the TV?
Sounds like the wireless is the only STB you have a problem. Or, is it the one you watch? How complex is your network? Can you simplify it? Just as a test - try just the TG/DVR cat5 & the wireless.

The RG/WAP and Wireless box are only about 40' or so apart. If I run a cable, it has to run around the outside of the house and is about 150' of cable.
It is a very simple network... RG has DVR, Blu-Ray, PC, and WAP for new receiver plugged in. I run a couple wireless devices to the RG and that's it.
The wireless box is in the living room and is the primary 'family' box. It is the only one that has any issues. I had a coax wired box where the wireless box is sitting now, but the cable went bad and they just replaced the box instead of running new cable. The DVR is fine and is only 10 ' from the RG attached by ethernet.
The green signal lights on the wireless box show full strength. The only problem is the stupid message to press OK to see recorded shows while I'm watching a recorded show. There doesn't appear to be any glitch in watching when this shows up and sometimes I am unable to stop and resume where I left off. A few days ago I did get a message saying there were no shows recorded on the STB, but live TV was streaming fine. I rebooted the box and saw the DVR again. Is there any way to change the wireless channel on the STB/WAP?

No, there is not. I don't think that is an issue because the wireless connections to the RG are 2.4 GHz and the wireless connection to the WAP is 5 GHz.

Your RG may not be passing the DVR communication well.
Worth a try. If it does not work call for a replacement wireless STB. After, that you will have to get creative on how to run a wire.
