I have problems with my 2250 with blank audio spots, lasting a few seconds, about every 10 minutes. I called support and they agreed to ship me another unit. They shipped out a 1250 and I refused to accept it...that's another story in itself!!!.
Question are the 2250's only going to new customers? I have the U400 package and do a lot of recording, THAT'S WHY I AGREED TO SIGN UP WITH ATT AND GET ALL OF THAT RECORDING SPACE!!.
Any help will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Frank

Your account has a 2250 which is categorized as a 500G HDD. However, AT&T generalizes DVR's in two categories: High Capacity (250GB and above) and Low Capacity (below 250GB).
When a representative ships you a new DVR, they can choose from High Cap or Low Cap, not 2250 or 1225 or any of the other 4 models (there is no 1250). There, unfortunately, is no way to guarantee a certain model over the phone as it simply depends what AT&T has in their warehouse at any given point in time.
They can send a technician out and they may have one on their truck. If the rep notates to bring a 2250, I don't know how much leeway they have... Certainly if they already have one on the truck they'll give you it.
Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. It's how AT&T does their swaps right now.

I had a 2250 that failed, and it got replaced by a CSR with a 1216. The 1216 failed and a tech was sent out to replace it. He replaced it with a 2250 that he had on his truck. The only way I think a person has a good chance of getting a 2250 is if a tech comes to install a dvr and they have a 2250 on their truck.

I was able to get a 2250...talked to support...informed them to send out tech ONLY if he had a 2250 on the truck. He arrived with a 2250, but he said he had no notes about having one on the truck....well it worked out anyway.
It's really sad that a major communications company fails to communicate with their own employees...go figure!
Tks to those who replied.

Simply trying to upgrade from vip 1225 to 2250. Was told twice by AT&T Customer Rep that they were sending me a 2250, both times they sent me a 1225. I confirmed with them both times, you're sending me a 2250, right? Yes they told me. I already have the 1225, I don't need another 1225 let alone two more. What is wrong with AT&T????

The warehouse that ships them may not have any VIP2250's in stock; therefore, they ship you the DVR that is in stock.

I did the same thing, we called in, I specifically asked for the new recievers (nothing wrong with my old ones), and they agreed to send me a new DVR and a new STB (not wireless). I got them the next day, a 2250 DVR, BUT I got another 1200 stb. When I called back, they said there was no new upgraded STB (vip2200?) so thats why I got a 1200. I really just wanted the new DVR, but the black STB would have been nice.

I just got a brand new Samsung ES608000 LED TV, and I'm a bit disappointed with the AT&T UVerse picture quality. Some channels are pretty good, NFL and NBA Network, Palladia, etc...but ESPNs networks and some others are not that great. I'm wondering if an upgrade to the VIP 2250 would help with video quality issues?

Have you calibrated your tv? That will make a very big difference in your picture quality.

Just purchased a Samsung 60" led smart and it rocks w/ my vip1225 dvr. Did all the minor calibrations and it worked out well. No real need to go deeper than that. You can find peoples personal deep calibrations on line by entering your model # followed by "calibrations". But that's their personal preferences.
The main setting is in the clear motion category. Set it to the 2nd lowest or off or it will look like a darn documentary.

We still have our VIP1216 and two VIP1200s from 4 years ago on U300 lol. I envy the people with the 2250s.

lol...I calibrated the standard and movie modes with some settings from AVS Forum users who are pro calibrators, but no I haven't had it profesionally calibrated. The TV looks amazing with I'm watching a BluRay so I don't think its calibration.
Also I just tried to call AT&T and get my RG and DVR upgraded and I got the whole speel about they can't upgrade us for all the same reason mentioned above. I find it quite amusing that my VIP1225 and VIP1200 that are about 3 years old now, can't be upgraded to anything newer.
As a customer who's been shopping around and actually signed up for DirecTV, I guess my days of AT&T are done. My wife wants more GBs for the DVR but our little 300GB box can't be upgrade, so DirecTVs 1TB DVR is looking good right about now. And I just wanted some wireless N with my modem or faster modems like the DOCSIS 3 cable modem, but nope, not an option. So guess my cell and home phone is all that will stay with AT&T.
Too bad.

You may want to try component cables vs hdmi. We just changed all three tv's back and we like it better
lol, no way I'm moving back to those cables, HDMI should be fine. Its the AT&T QoS that is not as expected for me.
I used to be all about AT&T, stood up for them as far as UVerse and CS but not anymore. Today was bad day for them in my history.

And sorry I'm not here to throw out a gripe fest on AT&T, they've been good enough for me for a few years, but now the technology of competitors has surpassed them. I'm getting a LOT faster internet for $10/more a month and a lot better TV service for $3/more a month.
I like the best and top quality stuff, and right now AT&T just doesn't have that for me anymore.

I'll try this out but I really don't think it will make a difference, if that option is even in my Samsung menu...we'll see. If it does, I'll be the first to post here and brag.
