So my box up in the Master can see the recordings on the DVR. When you go to play something you get a black screen, and then a message saying an error has occured.
I have hard reset the box 4 or 5 times...and it always happens. I can get on my laptop and using slingbox connect to a box in the basement that has no problems playing DVR content.
Does this likely mean I need to contact support to get a new box? I guess the only thing I could do would be to "reset" the DVR, but I don't want to lose all of my recordings.

"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

I'm not real clear on what your set up is, but I think you're saying that you have an STB in the master bedroom that shows you the listing of shows from the DVR but won't play them. But you have an STB in the basement that does work (or maybe that's the DVR?).
It does look like you have some sort of network issue between the DVR and the STB in the master bedroom. As gregzoll_1 said, you need to look into the connection of the DVR back to the RG, as well as into how the STB is connected to the RG. Are all connections tight? Is the STB in the master bedroom wireless?

Try rebooting erverything in this order: RG, DVR then STBs, unplug everything first. If the recordings don't play it might be time to call TS for help. Good luck ![]()

Do a hard reboot by unplugging the ac cables for 30 seconds and then reconnect them.
