We are very pleased with the operation of our newer slingbox solo over uverse. Setting the RG to allow it to be viewable over the internet or iphone works fine. My question is: We may have another slingbox available to us shortly. I'ld like to hook this up so both of them can be accessable from the internet at the same time. Can the RG slingbox "application" handle both? Should I create another slingbox application in the RG with a different port (say, 5002 instead of 5001 that the slingbox currently uses)? Note that our household net is not in DMZ plus, but connected directly through the RG.
Cheers!

I am running two Slingboxes in that exact setup. One on port 5001, and another on 5002. Note that you will have to use the Slingbox desktop software to configure the second Slingbox to use 5002 instead of 5001, as they default to 5001.
Then you will need to create a second firewall rule in the RG, and it will have to be a custom rule for port 5002, as the built-in "Slingbox" rule uses 5001 only.

Joe,
Which slingbox are you using. I'm thinking of getting one this fall and not sure which one to look at. Does it allow for changing channels with UVerse as it does for cable?

I actually have two older Slingboxes, a Slingbox Classic and a Slingbox AV. They don't make either of these anymore.
But the ones they make today (Slingbox Solo and Slingbox Pro-HD) will both control the U-Verse box with an IR emitter.
The difference betwem those two boxes is basically that the Pro-HD model does HD, whereas the Solo is SD. The Pro-HD also has multiple inputs and an antenna/QAM tuner.
Be aware that for the Pro-HD box to stream HD, you need at least 3 Mbps of upload bandwidth. The only U-Verse package that offers this is the 24/3 internet package which isn't available everywhere and isn't available to all customers, depending on your profile.

Since y'all have set it up before maybe you can answer a question for me. Last night I hooked up the Solo to my DVR and despite the poor documentation was able to get it running for the most part. I am able to watch whichever channel I am currently tuned too, but I have no remote controls on my phone or laptop. Where exactly is the IR receiver on the front of the DVR box? Also do I set both IR blasters around it, like one above and one below or is only one needed? I also noticed on an instructional video that it looked like during setup it asked to test your remote, but I don't recall that screen coming up during my setup.

Not exactly sure where the IR receiver is on the front of the DVR, but yes, I did setup both slingbox IR blaster transmitters in front of the IR receiver on a regular STB. The slingbox setup should take you through a procedure where you identify the STB/DVR and it will actually create a virtual remote that even looks like the uverse remote that came with the DVR/STB. You use this on your laptop with the slingmedia application to change channels, access recorded shows, etc. Of course, if you are watching the DVR from your laptop halfway across the world, that is the same program that anyone watching the output of the DVR in person is also watching. We connected our slingbox to a STB in the rec room that wil almost never be viewed by anyone directly except when we are down in the rec room ourselves. The iPhone app for slingbox works a little differently, but still does a good job changing channels or accessing DVR recorded shows.

I have a Slingbox Pro-HD. I'm trying to be able to have 2 people watch the slingbox at 2 different locations. I know I need to buy another Slingbox, but will I also need another cable box or can I set up two Slingboxes on the same cable box?

You need two slingboxes because only one person can access it at a time??
