Hi All,
I was sent a new replacement DVR by ATT, and have a question regarding the return process. The email that ATT sent me says that I will be billed if I don't send back all the cables, remotes, and any other accessories that go with the old receiver. Now the confusing part. On the installation sheet provided with the new receiver, it states in bold print,"Do not return your remote control." What do I do with the old remote? I haven't been able to find the answer to this question anywhere on the official Uverse site. Hopefully, someone out there will have dealt with this before. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

I would not send the old remote back. But if you are nervous about being charged and you have room in the box, send it back. Last count, I think I have three working remotes in my living room. Two in the basement.

Excuse me. Are you stating that AT&T shipped you a new DVR? What instructions did they give you for putting it into use? This normally requires a residence tech to do this and I, for one, have NEVER heard of a new DVR being installed by the customer. We've had ours replaced two or three times in nearly 3 years and it was always delivered and installed by a tech. It's not a simple remove-and-replace process.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Hope this link works. It's the newest thing. Not judging how smart it is.

You are wrong.
I also had mine replaced last month. AT&T sent it overnight UPS.
AT&T wanted the DVR and power cord returned not any cabling or remote control. The UPS store checked my box to ensure ONLY those items were in the box before issuing me a reciept.

Yes, they sent a replacement. It was a simple change out, and beat waiting five days for a tech to do the same. I got the replacement the next day, and had it up and running in less than 30 minutes. Yes, it is a simple thing a customer can do if they have a bit of experience hooking up electronic equipment. They include a simple to follow instruction sheet that takes you through each step.

I just had one shipped to me about 2 weeks ago. They now give you the option of a self install if it is certain the problem is with the DVR and not the connection. In my case the hard drive was bad.
It definately was a simple remove and replace process and only required a few reboots to download updates and programming. In fact all my scheduled recordings and series record settings remained intact.

That's odd, I just put the old DVR back in the same box without ever taking out the remote or cables. At the UPS store they took everything out for repackaging but kept the remote and cables which I assumed would also be sent back. Somebody at that store probably has ehose at home now.![]()
