How to increase volume consistantly- not one notch at a time

Does anyone know how to increase the volume by just holding the volume down as opposed to hitting the button for each increase? Did it fine with the Comcast DVR. Should I reprogram the remote?

On the remote for my Motorola VIP 1225, I am able to continuously hold the volume button and increase or decrease the volume level.

I have done nothing to change the operation of the volume button on the remote. The remote has always worked this way.

I'm not sure that is a programmable feature. You can program the remote to determine what device is controlled when you press the volume button.

You may need a new remote. I can hold the volume buttons down on all of my remotes for all of my tvs and the volume goes up and down as long as I hold the button. However, it could be the specific tv you have that has an issue with the remote.

Or you have the wrong code for your TV. I was at my daughter's house today and she has Time Warner and their remote was acting the same as you discribe. It would power off etc. but if I hit the volume up/down for the TV it would move one increment at a time. I changed the code (Samsung TV) and now it works as expected.

Here's a year old thread but the poster had the exact same problem as yours.

A solution was found by turning up the volume all the way on the STB and entering in the correct TV code.

Here is an online user manual, w/TV codes, for the remote and a very good post by spd2demun for turning up the volume on the STB.

So I guess the Administrator from UU must have snuck over to Utalk and posted this?

Come on.... 95% of the Utalk members probably don't visit the uverseusers site and we wouldn't have ever known about it if you didn't post it here.

Of course a user could have dig it out of the remote manual if you even knew it was there.

I could barely get any sound out of my TV, on certain channels, until I read your post and set the STB volume to Max (25).

Setting the STB volume level to the max also worked wonders for my AV receiver.

Sounds like your on track to a solution already, but I can add a little more info to explain why the problem exists. First off, I'm guessing you have a samsung tv. Those can use a couple of different codes. Some use a protocol that sends repeating commands when certain buttons are held, others don't. If you guess wrong and use the non-repeating version, it will work, but only with multiple button presses. The repeating version works as expected. The same samsung volume issue exists on every universal remote, not just the Uverse one.

that is what i have also, 1 push and 1 notch either up or down. also the mute button does not work either and i read that some can select tv inputs using the tv/video button. if anyone knows of a different code than 1004 for the 32" polaroid lcd please let me know. i read that polaroid was the 5th largest maker of lcd tv so you would think that uverse would have a correct code for my tv. maybe they do...

Maybe one of these will give you 'full' TV control show.

Finally got off my butt and manualy entered the code (after the 7th option out of 19). Works great. Thanks guys for all the input and your time to do so. Have a good weekend.
