DVR wont Reboot

When I turned on my TV this evening I searched through the guide and notice there weren't PIP previews like usual, so I selected a channel to watch and got a blank screen. I thought the service must be down so I tried to watch a recorded show on the DVR and got a blank screen there as well.
I attempted to reset the box by holding the power button. It reset but got stuck on an orange ATT screen. After a while it gave a Client Initialization Error. I selected retry and it did the same thing again.
In the meantime I can watch tv from another room in the house, I just can't access the programs recorded on the DVR, which seems to be malfunctioning.
I've read a few posts on the subject here on the forums, and in most cases people have this issue when they are doing something to prompt the issue. I haven't made any changes. What could be happening?
I would prefer to not have to completely reset my DVR because I have a lot of programs recorded. I have been a uverse customer in my present location for over a year, and prior to that I had uverse for a year as well. This is my first issue.

Try removing the power cord from the DVR, wait thirty seconds and reconnect the power. If the DVR still fails to re-boot, you can try switching the port it is plugged into at the RG.
If that fails than you may have a fault in the wiring between the RG and the DVR or a defective DVR.

Thanks. I'm afraid it's a defective DVR. I had already tried disconnecting the power cable, so I guess it's down to trying the cable swap.
If none of that works, do I need to give up and call customer support? Any other ideas out there?

Another thing to check - there is a light on the RG labeled Home PNA - if there is no light on it, that may be the issue
check the set top box, if it is fed with coax from the wall, it is on the HPNA
Reboot the rg and check for this light again. I now lit then reboot the set top box.
It should come back up then
If it does not, or you cannot get the HPNA light to come back on, then call Tech Support
