I started having the HDMI not connecting/synching with my Panasonic LDC TV. They came out yesterday and replaced the STB. I thought this would be the end of the problem. Nope, no sooner than the tech left, I turned it on and bingo blue smears, no sound. I pulled everything out and rewired the whole thing to use the component video. Well with the HDMI I can run at 1080i but one 720p with the component. If I am going to keep this setup, I need to get a svideo cable for the DVD player. I try plugging the HDMI cable in to see if I can switch between the HDMI and the component video. The answer is no. I shut it off while I went to get a new HDMI cable. When I got home my wife was watching TV. Now she has gotten the reboot procedure down pat. I asked her and she said no she didn't have to reboot. Well to make a long story short, I have both component video and HDMI cables connected between the STB and the TV and 1080i and it has worked every time starting up since then. So do I take it all apart to try with just the new HDMI cable or just leave it as is and enjoy.

My opinion? If you are happy with everything the way it is, leave it alone and return the new cables and take your wife out for dinner. ![]()
IF, it starts happening again, try RC's suggestion in this thread.

There is a known bug with the STB's and HDMI. For some HDMI works, for some it doesn't. Ar first there was hope that having the Cisco boxes would fix the problem. Obviously, it hasn't.

It looks like your problem is solved, but if you have a problem with the hdmi cable here is a procedure that has solved the problem for several people who use the hdmi output from their stb. Unplug the hdmi cable and then do a soft boot of the stb. Wait about five minutes while the stb reboots and then reconnect the hdmi cable. By the way you get 1080i/p through the component cables as well. The difference between the hdmi and component cables are, using the hdmi cable you only need one cable, and audio is sent down that cable. Using the component cable you have to use the red green and blue outputs along with the red and whit audio outputs.
If your system is working I agree with Pip, take that cable back and go to dinner, or use it towards a gallon of gas or something like that. Enjoy.
