About a week ago, all three of my boxes - a DVR and two STBs - would turn on just fine, and when I pressed buttons on my remotes, the green Power light would blink (which indicates, to me at least, that it received the signal), but nothing would happen (this includes attempts to change the channel), until I pressed the power button, which worked - and when I turned the box back on, it started working normally again. (Each one had to be turned on, off, and on to get it to work.)
Yesterday, the same thing happened - again on all three boxes.
Is this a "known problem" of some sort?

As of this time the only work-around is as you've found -- power the box off and back on.

Same thing happened to me -- seems to work fine after a power off - power on.

Me too (only on the STB, not on the DVR). Started after Phase 3.

I'm having the same problem. I noticed it on my DVR and STB. Like others have mentioned, it started with the last update.

I have the same problem on both the DVR and the STB. I noticed it for the first time about 2 weeks ago. At first, I rebooted the devices, which corrected the problem for awhile. But then I discovered I only needed to turn them off and back on.

Are they going to fix this?

I also had this problem on all 4 of my boxes. I had to reset each box, including the DVR, by holding down the power button. I've had to do this twice in the last 2 weeks.

Horrible. Same issue on both of my boxes.
Any way to control these STBs via IP?
Would love it if there were a webserver in each of these things that I could hit.

Add me to this group. Powering on and off using the remote appears to work reliably, but it's a frustrating problem.

Power-cycling the boxes will make 'em work again. (as proably stated somewhee above).
I've been able to avoid power-cycling (to watch something else while a recording is occurring) by hitting a "pause" for a couple seconds, unpause, surf-arrow up, OK, surf-arrow down, OK, power off (from the remote ... a "standby") then back on ... and full control returned.
I'M SURE it can be done with fewer strokes, perhaps just a pause/unpause, standby ... but the boxes haven't gone goofy since I started playing with it.
It's a known problem; my understanding is that the fix is in the process of being confirmed and setup for the push.

I wish they would let support know this was a known issue...would have saved me an hr of troubleshooting...
They reset all my boxes....helped for a few days but now its back....
At least I know its not just me!
But the reset did give me 1sd/3hd!!

Nothing official, but I believe I heard that it is related to catching an Emergency Alert while the box is in standby.

I'll add myself to this group.
We have the same issue... glad to know the problem was caused by the Uverse update and not by our aging Harmony remotes ![]()

Simultaniously all remotes failed to do anything except make the green power button outline light blink.!
When they make a known mistake with an update, why cant they let people know....
A button hold reset cured the problem.
And there is a lag now with every channel change, every remote usage.... agrivating.!

If the remotes are at fault/defective, ATT will replace them for free; just call TS.
But some of us are experiencing what you describe with slow channel changes with any ATT remote (inlcuding me).
This apparently happened with the Phase 3 update for some of us. ![]()
A few people have posted that just turning the box off, then back on, clears things up; doesn't work here, it's still slow.

They must still be pushing out some kind of updates related to Phase 3 or something which affects remotes.
Night before last all my remotes (std silver) started working really slow/delayed. Then yesterday they quit working altogether. Wife was really ticked she couldn't access her daily Y&R recording on the DVR.
I soft rebooted the STB in the kitchen and it made no difference at all. Even tried new batteries in the remote and no luck. Kind of odd the volume would still work, must be through TV, but none of the other remote functions would work.
Did a hard reboot of the RG by unplugging it for 30 secs. Then did a soft reboot of all the STB's and DVR by holding the power button in 10 secs. After they all loaded the first time I hit the "guide" button it came up but really slow. After the first time the guide now comes up quickly and just like it was before the upgrade. Good deal and glad it's back to working right.
Guess when all else fails follow the prompts which come on the blue screen when the RG is unplugged. This can be seen in the the below post and thanks for the screen shot, Spd.

Add yet another person with the same problem after the last patch. I have 6 boxes (1 DVR and 5 STB) and they ALL have the same issue but oddly enough not all at the same time. I thought it was my RF remote add on that was causing problems. But my DVR is the only one with that remote and the rest have the silver IR remotes. And like everyone else a reboot fixes it temporarily.

Mine are a little faster today--2 sec. to change channels vs. 3 sec. before. Felt like I had Dish for a while. ![]()

I had to do the samething last week ago and again today with 4 TV's because the only thing I could do with the remote was turn them on and off. Couldn't change channels, or bring up the guide until I rebooted the STB.

I think a lot of us had the same issue. I had it a couple of days ago. Rebooting the DVR or STB did the trick. Could have been an update that caused the issue.

At least i'm able to get the tv on and off, but I cant access the menu or change the channels. Any suggestions besides throwing the tv and remote out the window...extremely frustrated with the online support.

Is it new remote? What about fresh batteries? Do you have the programming guide for the remote? I would reset to factory default(code 900) to see if the STB works ok, then go back to programming TV,
Some folks have been reporting STBs not responsive to remotes. Fix is reboot STB.
