All zoom settings won't work with componet cables?

The ATT U-verse technician was out at my house and he told me that all 5 screen zoom selections won’t work with component cables. You only get Normal, Zoom 1, and Stretch. No Zoom 2 or 3. If I use HDMI cables then you can use all 5 settings.

This seems partially true. One of my 4 flat screens has component cables and all 5 zoom settings work.

Is the tech correct or is the one flat screen just happen to be lucky?

incorrect, my hdtv is hooked with component cables and i get all the zoom levels...

Well, I haven't tried it since the update, but after I changed the aspect ratio on the STB from 720P to 1080i, I can no longer use the zoom 2 or 3, UNLESS I am watching something in HD, which of course, I wouldnt want to change anything then.

Prior to that (with 720p) I had all the zooms working.

Okay, just checked and yes, it is the same. No zoom 2 or 3 and I am on component also, but I don't think that is where the issue is.

This is a known issue...

Using component connections and having the output set to 1080i, zoom levels 2 and 3 do not work for SD programs...(all zoom levels work for HD channels, tho...)

If you find yourself wanting to use the zoom levels 2 and 3 often, the best thing to do is to set the output to 720p and wait for this problem to be fixed.

i have a 720 hdtv but i set the stb to 1080 and i still have zoom levels 2 and 3 but they seriously wacky...

I have changed the stb to 720 and still cannot use the zoom 2 or 3

However, to expand a letterbox SD program to fill the screen I use zoom 1 on the stb and cinema zoom 4 on my tv - looks great
