Hello,
I bought a Nokia 2330 several years ago for travelling and I have used it multiple times since then with the same phone number and no issues at all. Now suddenly I am unable to use it, it says that I have no network coverage and it doesn't accept any of the codes that I enter into it and I can't dial ATT or 611 either.
I have tried to get help via the contact us page on att.com but it requires me to add a valid telephone number to complete the account. Then I tried to call them, and again it requires a valid telephone number to get through the initial stage of their telephone help system. When I enter my old number it tells me that it isn't valid or that they are having trouble finding my number.
That led me to this forum where it appears that it's possible to get some help but not a whole lot. Why would I have to go to an ATT store and buy a new sim card? Why would I need to buy a new phone? This phone worked just fine not long ago. It seems that they deactivate the number after 6 months but that wasn't the case before as I used the same number with gaps longer than 6 months in between uses.
Can anyone help me out or put me into contact with people to get my phone working again?
Thank you.

If you bought the $100 refill, you could go for 1 year and 85 days before the phone got deactivated. However if you bought any of the smaller denominations, the longest you could be inactive is 25+90+60 or 175 days or less than 6 months. (Say you waited 25 days to refill and then you let the phone expire.)
You may be right about the phone being deactivated. If that's true, then your old number was cancelled so that you will need a new SIM card and new number.

Thanks for the response.
I believe that the Go Phone system has been changed. I have used the phone many times for vacations with various gaps in between them, certainly longer than 6 months, and the phone continued to work fine.
From what I can remember the old system would just charge a small amount of money when the phone was used, I never purchased a refill that I can recall.
How can I be sent a new sim card and is it possible for me to stay with the old system that I was using? It was much more convenient.

You can easily get a new SIM card from an AT&T store, with purchase of a refill. If you include the refill, the sim card may be free. You can do refills by automatic deduction, or by purchasing refill cards directly from AT&T or other stores.
I suggest that you talk to AT&T customer service about staying with the old system.
