Started an AT&T prepaid service, "Smartphone Plan with Data", on my unlocked Nexus S. It only works in Edge mode, not 3G.
It worked in 3G on T-Mobile, and I could swear it also worked in 3G on AT&T post-paid plan, but now I can't be sure, will need to test it on someone's SIM card that is on post-paid plan.
Any reason why this phone would only work in Edge (and not 3G) mode? It's supposed to be compatible with AT&T 3G.
(Have another unlocked 3G phone, Nexus 1 - same story.)
Thanks for any help!

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12. You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF. Policy info HERE.

There appears to be an AT&T version of Nexus S that works in 3G, made available by Negri Electronics. I'll check with them to see what my options are.
It's a huge bummer if I end up not being able to use it - will have to buy another phone, and may as well go with a different carrier.
Thanks again for the answer.
