I want to upgrade to the new iPhone however I don't have an upgrade coming up anytime soon and I don't want to spend like $500. My mom has an upgrade on her line that she isn't planning on using. Is there anyway I can use her upgrade? I know it wouldn't be an issue if I were upgrading to any normal phone. Just use the upgrade get the phone and switch the sim cards when you get it. But with the iPhone you need a data plan and also the sim cards are different. Do you think At&t would allow me to to use the upgrade and put the data plan an such on my line if I explain my situation? We've been a loyal customer for over 6 years.

So, there's three of us on a family plan, in which I control the account. We all have Iphone 4's and are looking to upgrade to the Iphone 5. I can get a new phone for the discounted price, but the other two on the account can only recieve an "early upgrade". Is there any way for all three of us to get the new Iphone for the $199 price tag? Do I have to pay the "early termination fee"?

No, to early upgrade you will have to pay a fee of 250 dollars per line. Or wait untill eligible for the full discounted price.

Is that $250 fee added on top of the $199 price tag for the phone?

at least they offer the ability - verizon does not, you are stuck for the full term of your contract - so remember thst next year when the iphone 10,000 hits the street
Also, it is not "insane" the 250.00 is the penalty you pay to be let out of the binding agreement that you signed when you got your last phone at a greatly discounted price. Want the toy as soon as it is released, be willing to pay the penalty
