Upgrade fee doubled

For anyone who doesn’t know, the upgrade fee use to be $18, but suddenly changed to $36.  No one at at&t can tell me why, only that, “price changes happen all the time”; I found this answer to be very discouraging.  The first representative I spoke to said he could do nothing to help, but when I called back 5 minutes later, that rep told me she could offer me an account credit because I was not satisfied with the amount of the increase.  First off I don’t know how certain reps are granted rights to credit your account and other aren’t, but what really hurts is that the price DOUBLED.  Thank you at&t for making my decision easier to change to Sprint.  I will be doing so at the end my current contract.

That fee changed over a year ago. Other providers have upgrade fees too. Make sure that the provider you go with works well were you use it.

I’m not ignorant, I know other cell providers have upgrade fees, but are any of them half the price of what I paid for the phone.

Because there is no option to edit previous posts I just have to make a new one. So it looks like all the cell providers have banded together and doubled their upgrade fee. I am so glad to see that different companies can collaborate to work over their customers. It does a person good to know that things like this can happen. Can’t wait until the price of gas doubles, well, because they can. Hope that all the oil companies ban together and double their prices together, that way we have nowhere else to turn.

I'm not sure how much you paid for your phone, so I don't know what half the price would be.

At any rate Sprint's upgrade fee is $36, which is the same amount as AT&T's upgrade fee.
