ATT On-Line says I am not eligible for an upgrade, but I should be.

I last upgraded my phone in June 2010. Since then I have had the same phone, have not upgraded and have not changed my service. This upgrade was on my line.
I just tried to look at upgrade options, and the website says I will not be eligible to upgrade until Jan 28. 2013. Thats a full 2.5 years after my last upgrade. My wife did upgrade her phone on her line a few months ago, and it states that she is eligible for an upgrade on her line 1.5 years from her last upgrade.
I contacted ATT and got a generic reply that may factors determine upgrade eligibility, include my plan, payment history, corporate affiliations, data usage, etc. This generic answer really doesn't help.
Why would they not let me upgrade until 2.5 years, yet my wife is eligible after 1.5 years?

I finally appealed to someone higher who is stating that I renewed my contract on my line in June 2011 without purchasing a new phone. They insist I simply renewed my contract under the existing plan without any changes. This is simply not the case, I never did such a thing.
I did bring my phone into the Apple store around that time and get it repaired under warranty, but they said nothing about renewing my contract with ATT.
Any ideas? I was planning to upgrade to the iPhoen 5 when its available as my old phone is no longer working.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I upgraded my line when the iphone 4 came out. I checked last year after the iphone4S was released and I was eligible for an upgrade at that time. I just checked now and I am not eligible until 02/08/13??
I havent done anything with my line but I did add a line to my account around christmas of last year, would that be reason my upgrade was moved back?

Both of your posts seem correct RonRon87, as you normally have to be 20 months into your contract before becoming eligible for a full upgrade. Also, when you added the line in December, did you take a subsidized device on it? If not, then you would have full upgrade eligibility on that line.
