Network Outage NYC?

My gf's new iphone 4S is experiencing problems and she just got it yesterday. Incoming calls or outgoing calls she can hear the person but when she speaks they cannot hear her.

At&t says its because of three towers down in our area....

Never heard of a network problem causing a mic issue.

Anyone know about this? Is this true?

Yeah I read that too.... I am not really sure if this is the reason or if my situation is an isolated situation with the network...

Myself and the other 2 people on my family plan all woke up today with no phone service on any of our iphone 4 devices.

This was the only thread I could find about a possible network outage. None of us can make or recieve phone calls.

Anyone know what's going on?

I have an iPhone 4 and my services are fine.... But my GF's new iPhone 4S White 16GB she upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and now when she makes a call, nobody can hear her but she can the other person.

At&t claims its because of 3 towers down in our area. That actually doesnt make any sense. Why would the "Mic" not work on a brand new phone......

I dont think its because of towers especially if she's the only experiencing this issue.

I tend to agree; it sounds more like a hardware issue. You might need to make an appointment with the Apple Genius bar and have them look at her phone!

Hi there - this sounds like something more related to your account than network coverage. Can you go online and check your account status?

A couple other folks talked about this in the community a few weeks ago and it is definitely a hardware issue. I'd get to an Apple store and see if they can either fix or replace it.

But I'd like to know what will happen to the bill at the end of the month when she barely uses her minutes and still gets charged anyway even though she doesnt have a functional phone?

Because lets be honest with each other, production of the iPhone 4S is pretty backed up right now and the suppy & demand is off the roof. For her to get another brand new phone overnighted to her home, we might be looking at 2 weeks if she's lucky.
