Serious outage in Los Angeles. No service in Hollywood or Santa Monica. Not just me. Had to hardline call several friends to confirm. What the fudge, AT&T....
Seriously the worst network ever. If you didn't have the iphone you'd be done for. You suck.
Sincerely,
Me

Hi there!
Sorry to hear your experiencing network issues. ![]()
Have you tried a soft reset of the phones and see if that helps in anyway? They may be working in your area, improving service. ![]()
You can also see if they are working on your area by calling Customer Care. You can dial 611 from your mobile device or dialing 1-800-331-0500! ![]()

Yes, I of course I have. That's the first thing I did.
That would not, however, describe why me, my wife, and 3 of my friends on the AT&T network are experiencing the same problem. OR why there have been several posts in the last few hours by random users experiencing the SAME problem.
So please, save me the canned answers and offer a real explanation.
Thanks.
David

If the network is down, how can I call customer service? I do not have a land line.

Hi there,
I would say contacting AT&T online would be the best course of action as they will be able to help as well. ![]()
You can contact AT&T technical support at: http://www.att.com/econtactus/#

OBVIOUSLY, I can't call with my cell phone, so I tried the hard line phone number the stupid customer service bot suggests (1-800-331-0500).... of course, they're closed now. Yay, I get to just deal with it with no explanation. Another giant win by AT&T.
Oh yeah, in case I didn't mention it before. AT&T sucks.

Finally got to chat with a rep. Here's the conversation:
Me: Is there a major outage in the LA area?
Richard [personal content edited]: Hello , thank you for completing the pre chat survey. I see that you are having trouble with service. I will be more than happy to assist you today. I know how frustrating it can be when your phone doesn’t work properly. It is my priority to resolve this today and respond to any other questions you may have.
Me: If so, why?
Richard [edited]: I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, I do see that there is a known issue in California impacting a large number of cell sites. This is a known issue and our engineers are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.
Me: any ETA on that?
Richard [edited]: We are investigating the root cause of the issue so that we can resolve this as soon as possible. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Richard [edited]: I apologize but at this time there is no estimated time of repair.
Richard edited: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Me: Ok, I just wanted to make sure that your company is aware of the issue.
Richard [edited]: We are very aware, thank you for contacting us about this.
Richard [edited]: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Me: No that will be all. Thanks

Glad to see you were able to get some assistance! These things do take some time to fix but I'm sure they are working on it as quick as they can. ![]()
I'm sure this issue will be resolved soon, though no ETA was given.

I just spoke to a rep that confirmed there is a massive outage in So Cal due to towers being degraded. They advised that this WILL GO ON UNTIL TOMORROW EVENING. If you get service sooner great, try using a landlines, or, use email to text your friends and family of the situation. If they have ATT outside of the new dead zone, you can send them texts via your email to them - THEIR CELL NUMBER @mms.att.net
Other carriers you can look up by the number to whom provides service and check their email to text message procedures.
I advised that someone was telling people to restart or clear your phone, she advised that YES Evandala is WRONG, wait for service to return. Don't lose your information.
I was advised that credits will be issued to all effected- but write down when service stopped and returned, call at&t and ask for a credit for the outage- this includes pre paid customers.
I'm disabled and it took me quite a while to type this, but In thought it was messed up there is no announcement.
Hope this Helps-
Southpaw

Neither my wife nor I have service here in Beverly Hills; it's been down for over an hour now. Thanks to digatron for creating this thread and to twosoutherncats for taking the time to post all of that information—AT&T is about impossible to get a hold of (the conversation digatron relayed is consistent with my experience with their customer service). I just switched to AT&T from Verizon one month ago...maybe it's time to go back; in three years I never experienced a service outage with them!

Biblical bad service, this has been happening way to much lately, lots of dropped calls in California and 2 weeks this month in NYC, no service since 1pm today in Studio City then back to LA all afternoon and now 640pm and no service. Thanks ATT for making me miss several meetings now today. I am seriously moving service after this weekend.

I have been a loyal customer for a good long time and the only thing keeping me an AT&T customer was the iPhone. I think I will be looking into changing to T-Mobile in the very near future since the merger is going to be blocked by the government.

Service came back on for a bit in Santa Monica- I was able to make a quick call- and then the call dropped and it looks like service is out again.

I'm in Studio City, my service went out at 2pm, almost on the dot.
No service all day, went to the AT&T store at 6pm and they said AT&T would have it fixed ina few hours, apparently NOT.
I'm really starting to HATE AT&T, how could they NOT tell people at the very least, I had a TON of business calls to make today and nowhere near a landline.
Thanks a LOT AT&T, now I look like an A55 in front of prospective new clients.
[please be courteous]
No Service Throughout Whole Day in Encino!

We've been without service for most of the day here in Encino. This is totally unacceptable!
Just an hour ago our home alarm went off and I'm trying to make calls to the alarm company with my cell and guess what, it wasn't working! Here I am home alone worried there's an intruder in my home and can't get help! I had my front door open to literally just leave my home and go to the neighbors home when I was able to turn it off, check things out and reset it. However, it doesn't excuse the failed service.
I hope nobody had a true emergency where they needed police or paramedics, because they should be holding AT&T accountable if they couldn't get help in time.
Totally unacceptable!

We live in the san fernando valley off the 210 & 118. No service since early afternoon. My wife is 9 months pregnant and is due any min/second. All the people for emergency and back up are unreachable at this time.
