Is at&t moving out of Morgantown, WV?

Service has been so bad lately I can't even make a call let along make a connection to data. We were told months ago that it was confirmed by at&t and local news that 3G was on the way and should be here by summer. Well its July, service is continuing to get worse with no service through most of town and downtown even with a brand new SIM a few weeks old service is still terrible. I was told that this was a result of upgrades to towers for 3G, but since I'm no expert in this I take that as it is. Its happening. I just wish I knew how much longer cause its apparant they haven't tested it. Sprint and local regional carrier Ntelos already have Ev-Do running all over WV with US Cellular to come in August. I'll switch to Sprint for a Pre just so I can get some of that 3G love if at&t doesn't step it up and roll this out. Everyone has been complaining about service but it seems like nobody cares. So whats going on? Is Zeta-Jones Douglas moving in to take your place, leaving completely, or is 3G upgrades going on? It would be nice to know some news to see if its coming sooner rather than later. Best to get that here in time for football season would be pretty nice 3G and Mountaineer football.

Highly doubtful that at&t is leaving the Morgantown market.  It's far more likely that the network disruptions are due to the 3G upgrades.  In the interim you shoul keep reporting the problem to customer care.

I am hoping that is what the issue is. Would love some 3G love soon, but the service issues are a pain. I dropped 2 calls while talking to CSC reps. I stopped in a store and I was told my phone was too obsolete to work properly on the at&t network. (I have a Tilt) She told me to upgrade to another smartphone and I was like uh I thought about getting an iPhone or another HTC but nothing else and I didn't want the Fuze. So she mentioned other WinMo phones that would work better than my Tilt. I don't think its my Tilt tho. Everyone I know with at&t has been complaining about problems. Its been a noticable change since CellularOne left that the network has been worse since the takeover. Where are those towers we were supposed to get?

Keep the Tilt it is a great phone and don't listen to the sales rep and ignore what he said.. As to when, history shows that when a provider buys another it can take up to 1 year for the conversion to take place.  Some reasons for that are like the towers are not up to the standards and need to be upgraded or replaced.  So one would need to bear it a bit.

Its been almost 2 years since stores began selling at&t products and services. She did mention 3G but no date I had a phone rep mention July 17th which passed. at&t was quoted by a local NBC affiliate saying 3G should be here late spring early summer but that has passed as well. They have a large area to cover for 3G its Clarskburg, Bridgeport, Fairmont, Morgantown, and Grafton. A pretty nice chunk of this area I am sad that its not heading north towards Uniontown I think they should be included along with parts of Preston County who are considered apart of the Morgantown MSA. I just hope it comes very soon the outages are becoming very common. Almost like brownouts here during hot summers. I like my Tilt alot but I won a Sony Ericcson W350a and its neat to play with as a regular phone but I could never use it. Its terrible to hold on to and bad to text. I have been told I sound much clearer on it than my Tilt so I think its little flap helps control more voice into the speaker part of my phone compared to the Tilt being a dropoff point. I continue to keep the Tilt but am considering an upgrade soon when my contract becomes closer to being up. All I know is I can get the iPhone at the price advertised on TV and online. If Sprint had service at my parents house I would switch to get the Pre and try it out for awhile, but til that happens I'll stick to at&t and show my love to them when they deserve it.
