I am going to follow the lead of another fellow frustrated and fed up att customer and file a complaint with FCC here is the link http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
maybe someone can make sure att gets its act together and starts being honest with the consumer and gets better customer care! reading all the threads on here it is really discouraging to read that I am not the only one with bad internet connection and slow speed. Many of you are sick of the generic "solutions" and so called tests run on the modem and lines that come out good. And we are then told to either spend money to upgrade equipment or do a song and dance and pracitcally wear a foil paper hat to get the net to not give out. It is clear that the suits up in corporate do not read the community boards. I wish all of you frustrated customers luck.

Filing one with the BBB might be more helpful. Within two days of submiting my complaint to them, I was contacted by AT&T and they sent it to the network managers dept to look into it. My problem was fixed shortly after that. Seems that it was some equipment I was being routed through was having some sort of issue (circuit or OC3 card), re-routed me to another OC3 line and a router closer to my area and now it's fine.
Here's my post from that thread:

I have been having the (apparently nationwide) "slow DSL afternoon through late night" issue here for at least the past month. ATT denies their equipment/capacity is at fault. I had a tech come out last week and said he found a bad port "down the street", changed to a different one and that it would fix the problem - if anything it only made it worse as I have had the lowest speeds ever since. I called tech support again and they scheduled another tech visit for this morning and nobody came, called - no contact whatsoever.
This afternoon I filed a complaint with the BBB and FCC ... we'll see what happens next...

I HAVE COMPLETELY HAD IT WITH AT & T INTERNET SERVICE!!!!!!! IT ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!!!! I can be in the middle of an online class, testing, paying bills, or researching, the site stops working. It is completely slow. My cell phone internet is faster. I am tired of calling them to fix, for it only to work for a minute then back to the same issues! I am searching for another company to go with so I can get rid of this internet service. I will NEVER recommend AT & T internet service to anyone!
