I have a 2701HG-B 2WIRE gateway. Worked well for a few years but lately it started to disconnect from Internet and reconnect after 10-15 seconds. The DSL link stays on the Internet light goes off. So, far AT&T has not been any help. I have talked to two tecks and they have no clue. 2WIRE suggested that I disable the messages. This is a stupid suggestion. So far I have done the following.
1. Tested three 2701HG-B Gateways by borrowing two from friends.
2. Replaced the filters on the phone jack
3. Tried the modem with three different power cords.
None of the above has helped. Every tech I talk to says the modem is bad I need to buy a new one. When you ask them how can three modems go bad at the same time? They have no answer.
I work from home and this interruption is very frustrating. If this is not resolved by AT&T soon, I will switch to Comcast.

I've had this same problem for MONTHS. I've had techs test my lines and had them out here with no solution. I've moved my router to several locations in my 1500sq ft home. We have DSL only; no phone service so those standard interruptions they list that can be issues are not a potential issue for me. I finally went last month and purchased a new router/modem/gateway. It's been great until this weekend and my connection to DSL continues to disconnect. I am SO frustrated. I work from home and take classes online. I MUST have reliable internet. I hate to go to Charter, but if AT&T can't fix their issue very quickly I will change. period.

I am having the same problem. Seem to put in a call to ATT at least once a week, have to be on phone with them for at least an hour each time before they will agree to send a technician out, etc. Incredibly frustrating. Problem seems to always be the lines outside my home. Not buying it any more. Should not have service drop continually throughout the day nor should I have to put a call into ATT almost weekly or spend that much time on the phone just to get a technician out. Am very ready to switch to comcast. Alex, can you please help me? I am boiling over!

I have the same issue, with one additional detail: the problem started clearly right after I dropped phone/switched to dry line. Many months of phone calls always lead to the same result: "the lines are clean, signal is strong". I tried to take a hit and pay for ATT technician to come in. ATT cancelled the appointment twice(!!!) without telling me(!!!), with the argument: "we detect no problem on our side".
I have "1.5Mbps" plan. The modem was replaced, with new modem immediately having the same problem. I took out all DSL filters from lines (no phones are connected). DSL model light is always green. The best way to see the symptoms (as suggested by my VOIP company, shame that ATT does not have same simple diagnostics), is to run a program (PingPlotter) that "pings" over a long period of time (12-24 hours); the result clearly shows that the drops occur few times every hour. The issue is visible with different PCs, connected directly to the modem. Model Motorola 3360.
That is a little strange, every other call, DSL support says that something was changed on their side, and "the problem is now fixed". It appears something _is_ wrong on that side...
I am afraid to switch to U-verse as it very confusing if you are getting same repackaged DSL, after steep installation fee. Giving this last chance before looking at more expensive options outside ATT...

I suppose I can expect no help from ATTAlexCM as I sent a message then 2 days late I get very average response "I sorry to hear about YOUR problem, please reply with a contact#, email and good time frame for contact", pretty much seems to be the same blah blah blah everybody with an actual service issue gets. Then, I go to reply and geuss what, he turned off his PM's. So, it's gonna be a little hard to do when I cant contact you. Be expect a less than satysified customer calling, NOT AS IF THAT WILL DO ANY GOOD EITHER, RIGHT? This provider is a joke, at least with Charter I get the service I pay for!
