I canceled my cell phone and telephone service about 4 or 5 months ago and decided to keep my internet service through AT&T. Needless to say, it has been a complete and utter disaster.
About two months in, we had a situation in which the wiring was cut by construction on one of our main roadways. It took a couple of days until the situation was rectified. At that time, I had advised that I had not yet received a bill. I gave my billing address and was advised that I would receive a bill.
About a month later, I had never received a bill and my service was disconnected a second time. My wife called to verify our information and was advised by a customer service rep that AT&T had our incorrect address and had my name wrong (nevermind that I had been a customer since 2003 and my address or name has NEVER changed during that time period. They also had an incorrect e-mail address. My wife paid the bill up to date and requested that bills be sent by e-mail going forward.
Earlier this week, I received my first letter in the mail since being on DSL only service....and it was a DISCONNECTION notice! I found this interesting, seeing that I still haven't received a bill. I called customer service today to address my problem and rehash my entire situation. I was told that I could pay my bill and establish a direct payment account (which I wanted done in the first place, seeing that is what I've always had) and pay my bill, however, the customer service rep who attempted to assist me said that she was unable to waive the $30.00 disconnection fee and would have to transfer me....upon which I was transferred to a number and area that was closed for the evening. That being said, I still have a balance apparently AND still no DSL service.
Not one of these issues has been my error and yet I've had three interruptions in service in the last 5 months. I'm to the point where I don't want anything other than to have my fee waived and discontinue this horrible service. I'm lucky that my neighbor has a reliable and consistent internet service that they are letting me use.
I've wasted too much time and energy to go on with this. Just let me go!!
