I signed up online for a plain old DSL internet without phone line. It was supposed to be $25 a month for the first year.
I then called and asked if there was an earlier activation date available. "yes" they said and after asking for some information, they informed me of an earlier date. Great!
Now I don't know what the dumb customer service guy did when he moved my date up but I now have TWO DSL internet accounts. I just want ONE! I only ever asked for ONE. I only ever needed ONE freaking DSL account!!!!!
Yet I am being billed for TWO. What kind of crap are you trying to pull?
$126 for the one account and $186 for the other one. On top of that, I am not getting the $25 a month introductory rate on the one account I did set up. And the stupid customer service line hangs up on me without leting me talk to a person. And I emailed customer service and they have not responded in 5 days.
How, on this green planet, is somebody supposed to get things straightened out with a company as stupid as this?

If you call during business hours, say "no" to the first question. Say "I don't have one" to the second question. Then repeat "none of those" to subsequent questions, and it will connect you to a live person. Then insist they transfer you to the Retention Department. Those folks have always been able to address any issues I've had, correctly, the first time.
You could also send a message to Alex and he will have someone call you within a couple days to resolve your problems.
Unfortunately, this kind of problem is going to keep arising until AT&T can bring ALL customer service under one roof so to speak. It would seem it is so fragmented with obviously debilitaing information blockage between everyone, and add lack of training to the mix to create a hole that allows a CSR to create a new account over the top of an existing/pending account at the same address.
IMHO though, a lot of these situations are brought on by our 3G/4G mentalities, (that is so 15.6 seconds ago) gotta have it now. You had your order but you you didn't want to wait, so you decide to call in to "push" things along. Had you not called, You'd have one internet account.
As far as the billing goes, typically when you get a promotional pricing package ($25/month for 12 months) your first few bills will be full price then the promotional price kicks in, as well as a credit applied for the difference in the first bills, and the promotional price will continue for 9 more months.

That was at least helpful and informative. I shall give it a try.
Just wanted to mention, when i signed up for my account, I had on online chat guy helping me through the process. He is teh one who told me to call and ask for an earlier activation date so please don't try to hang that one on me either. If they couldn't do an earlier day, all they had to say was "sorry but you'll have to wait". Instead, they created a mess and want me to pay for it. That's so not cool!
I will try to call... again and see if i get anywhere (other than frustrated) this time.

Sorry, nothing personal.
That's probably not something they should be telling the customer, for obvious reasons. It's possible he thought you might cancel if you could not get it sooner, so he told you that to clinch the sale and keep from losing his commission or keep his "solution" count up.

OK, following the advice above, I got through to a very helpful representative who (according to what he told me anyway) has fixed the double account and fixed the promotional price so things should be squared away the way they are supposed to be.
