Different state code on a same family plan

Hi

I am in a family plan with my uncle. I recently moved to Indiana and my uncle is still in Maryland. Isn't it possible to change my number to Indiana number and uncle have the same Maryland number? Whenever I try to change the option, I get error. Please help.

Thanks

NO. The phone numbers must be from the same market.

If you need an Indiana phone number, you can get a Google Voice number for free, then link your current phone number to the Google Voice number.  This way, both phone numbers will ring on your phone.  You wouldn't be able to receive MMS messages on the Google Voice number for now, but that's the only downside that I can think of.
