I too used to enjoy the LOT8's. However, not throwing stones at ANYONE, but IF someone has the ability to post a comment here (a computer with internet access), they have the ability to see YOUR "local" weather NOW. TWC's website has up to the minute forecast, warning and radar info anytime you click on it. Why wait 7 minutes?
Now the people that don't have/want internet access, I can see them wanting/needing LOT8's. But they can't/don't post here, do they?

LOL. Reading some of the comments about LOT8's, that thought has crossed my mind on many occassions.

I get my fix on the iPod Touch, and sure there is a TWC App for non-Apple smartphones?
Hallmark...I had reflux when I saw it pop up on Dish about a free preview of the channel and movie channel.

What I don't get is with the big cablers upgrading their headends to IntelliStar and its new Version 2, and dumping their Weather Star XL equipment, why doesn't AT&T do some deal with TWC/Comcast/NBCU to install the "old" XL on the cheap? There have been some improvements in the latest incarnations, but unless you've been exposed to the IntelliStar and move to the XL, the basics are the same, and the most apparent differences are a different voice and typeface.
Even if AT&T had limited support from TWC, it could give them a leg-up in negotiating for the newer upgrade costs, if they had it in place to begin with.
Their "reasoning" sounds as dated as the satellite companies' old excuse as to why they couldn't provide local broadcast channels. It's not as if TWC has completely dumped their support for the XL equipment -- it's very much in use in the non-big boy MSOs.
