Closed Captioning - it takes like 20 steps to get it on and off - also, why does it move around and cover most of the tv picture - is there a way to tell it to just display at bottom of page?

redbld - It is a horrible mess. Many folks here have been fighting the battle for years. No progress for "normal" support.
If you want to work outside the box here are three possibilities -
1) A CC toggle button is currently available for the U-verse easy remote app available for iphone, ipad & ipod touch. The rest of the remote app is a horrible mess, but it is usable to toggle CC.
2) Assuming you have a widescreen HD TV connected HDMI - You cannot use the CC built in to the TV. To use it - Connect the TV via component cables and set the STB aspect ratio option to widescreen SD.
3) Set up a second TV, connected to another output on the STB and use the TV CC.

As far as the positions of the captions on-screen, that is defined by the captioning company that embedded the captions in the program. Some programs use positioned captions, which is supposed to position them on the screen in the least objectionable spot (avoiding on-screen action, titles, etc.) and possibly indicating via position which character is talking.
Other programs place all captions at the bottom center. Some programs that are live like newscasts use a style called "roll-up captions", where the captions scroll upwards at the bottom of the screen. This is because the captions are being transcribed live.
Anyway, all of this is not within the receiver's control -- the positioning is embedded within the caption data.
