Where is the Hallmark Channel?

I am new to At&t U verus. I was told when I signed up the Hallmark Channel was available.  It took me a week to finally realize you don't have it. Very misleading.

It doesn't matter if it's auto sales, security system sales or TV/Voice/Internet sales - many are sleazy and will say anything to get a sale.  That is sad and I bet lies are being told about Hallmark and otheritems related to UVerse.

Is the Hackmark Channel gone? NO ONE TOLD ME!!!!!! It is true, then. You sign up for U-Verse, and your contract says that you will not ever, never loose any channels for the length of the contract, and lo and behold, they immediatly take away 10 channels a month from you. No other providers take away channels, only AT$T. And they never, ever put on new channels to replace them. I WANT IMMEDIATE REFUNDS!!!!

I was at a hotel that had a  convention for AT$T salesman, and every one of them told me that Hackmark would always be part of U-Verse, and I would never, ever loose another channel again.

In the last two days I talked to 35,648 people who said they were going to go to other providers because of no Hackmark Channel. You are loosing a lot of customers. WE LET OUR MONEY DO THE TALKING !!!

You're trying to kill me with the misuse of the word 'loose' aren't you?

"Loose" and "loosing" seem to be the most common spelling errors on this forum. The reason I used "Hackmark" is because a poster actually spelled Hallmark that way in 2010 when the two channels were pulled.

I am a new U-Verse subscriber and was shocked to learn that AT&T does not carry the Hallmark Channel. I guess it was a pricing disagreement between AT&T & Halmark. Hared to believe this was not an issue with all the other cable/satelite providers.

This issue will certainly influence my decision to stay or leave U-Verse at the end of my promotional period.

Hallmark has been gone from the UV lineup for over 3 years.

There's a mega-thread somewhere on these boards discussing the subject.

So you didn't bother looking at the available channel guide?  It's been gone for 3 years and hasn't effected the growing number of subscribers.  Besideds, as has been mentioned, there's a mult-page thread regarding HM/HMC that you could have added to instead of adding yet ANOTHER thread.

Skeeter: This thread is 12 pages long, but that is nothing compared to the original Hallmark thread from July, 2010. Fortunately, that thread was finally shut down, and is nowhere to be found.

Just shows me how out of tune AT&T is with it's customers or they just don't care as long as there is no major impact to their revenue. If I was running a business and there were that many pages of comments about a certain channel, I would certainly take notice. It's all about the bottom dollar with the customer's concerns coming in a distant second. Personally I would pay a little bit more to get the channels I like. They were going to give me $100 to pay off my current contract with Direct TV and I was on the phone to schedule the installation when the representative told me they didn't have the Hallmark channel. My wife watches that channel 80% of the time so she nixed the whole thing. I was looking forward to Uverse but we have decided to go with Dish Network.

I thought you were not going to post on this forum anymore because you feel people are rude on it. We have heard numerous times that you are not going to get U-Verse, and go with Dish Network because of the lack of the Hallmark Channels. I hope you enjoy Dish Network, and they do not do anything to get you upset.

Hello Dave, another Dave here.  Starting a new thread isn't going to help, as the moderators really have no choice but to merge them into a pre-existing thread.

When I have a "consumer complaint" with a business, large or small, I find the best avenue is to make my complaint in such a way that the business will feel obligated to offer me a direct response.  (a forum, ran mostly by volunteer subscribers would not be the best avenue in this case and I think that U-Verse's channel request page isn't too effective either).  By making a company take the time to respond, isn't meant to punish the company but it does make them read the issue and understand customer needs.

Here are some suggestions:

Go to AT&T's and / or U-Verse Facebook page and do a Direct message.

Post on their Timeline

Google CEO contact information

Send a private message to the escalation team at AT&T Customer Care, and someone will get in touch with you.

One reason that there are page after page of posts on Hallmark is the 5:1 ratio.  For every one pewrson who asks / posts / complains about Hallmark, there are 4 or 5 defending naysayers.  Seriously. :smileyindifferent:

How do you know that they are not?  I post on forums once in a while, without staying engaged if I post my concern (especially tech forums).  Look, Hallmark isn't losing (loosing? ) the farm, simply because they are not on U-Verse.  i doubt that Crown Media is hiring minions to pollute our forums with their requests.  I did see some of that behavior once, with a one day uptick in "Blaze" requests but Hallmark has been fairly steady....

Someone will still find something to complain about Hallmark. There will still be plants, even if the channels have been added back, who will complain about the Hallmark channels not being there. We have had that recently with other posters who complained about Sundance HD or other channels not being there when, in reality, they were.

Hello, I am a former Uverse customer. I was considering coming back because of a great offer in promotional pricing for tv and internet - but, after looking at this and seeing that Hallmark is not part of the channel lineup, I've decided to stay with DISH Network - even though it would save me $516 over 12 months - we are a Hallmark channel family. Not having that channel keeps me from switching. Bummer....

How long ago did you leave U-Verse? Was The Hallmark Channel still there when you left? The Hallmark Channel and The Hallmark Movie Channel have been gone since September 1, 2010. There has been so much more added to the U-Verse lineup since that time.

$516 ($43 per month) is a lot to spend to just get the Hallmark Channel when there is so much more on U-Verse, content and high definition-wise.

It's been at least 3 or 4 years. I jumped onto Uverse when it first came out because I loved the total home DVR options. I had been a DISH customer for 8 years prior and I knew where all the channels were etc. I can't say whether Hallmark was on Uverse when I left or not. It's only been the past 2 years that my family has started with the steady Hallmark diet. They have really added some good family values programming. My wife is addicted to When Calls the Heart right now, and we loved the pilot and soon to be series Signed, Sealed, Delivered. And the chick flicks - my wife loves those movies lol.

Do you know if Uverse offers the option to watch Hallmark via the internet? I know some cable / sat companies will offer that.

The company that comes out with the option of "buy only the channels you want to watch" instead of packaging hundreds of channels that you never watch will hit it rich. I would love the alacart option....I wish someone would offer that. I'd purchase about 20 channels plus locals and call it a day.... :-)

Since Hallmark is not offered by U-Verse you cannot get it via the internet just as you would not be able to get it On Demand on U-Verse.

I agree with your statement that "The company that comes out with the option of "buy only the channels you want to watch" instead of packaging hundreds of channels that you never watch will hit it rich."

The company that offers that service will surely become rich because the cost of each channel will be very steep to the subscribers to that company. It is the packaging of channels from channel providers such as ESPN, Fox, Scripps Networks, etc, as well as shopping and infomercial channels that pay to be on television providers that keep costs down.

Do you think the cost will moderate based on the amount of stations that are starting to provide content on internet based channel service options like Rabit TV? I know that it's in it's infancy, but it will only get better as time and competition drive it. Several stations now offer free content on devices like the Ruku - and Smart Tvs make utulizing things like Netflix, Hulu etc. very easy. As these services develop their own content, it will be interesting to see if the cost goes up. I think the cable and Sat companies will be forced to compete in one way or another as this technology evolves or go out of business. It won't happen over night, but it will happen....

I would not fully give up on Hallmark coming back.  I heard that they have been trying to get them back but at one point, they were miles apart.  That was when U-Verse was in its infancy.  Now that U-Verse has almost tripled its households, AT&T has a bit more bargaining power.  Stay tuned, lol.

@lexnexdrm

If "When Calls the Heart" is your reason for staying with Direct, you can get the entire season on iTunes for $20.   For me, that's worth it to save $500.  Just saying.

AT&T has not carried the Hallmark Channels, which provide some of the best shows available, since 2010.  They are the only company offering cable service that do not provide the Hallmark Channels, which says something about the U-Verse management.  Instead, the U-Verse lineup carries tons of garbage channels that we have to pay for.  It would be nice if they got back to making some good programming available.

Considering that someone born during the final days of Hallmark being on U-Verse is getting ready to enter first grade, that should tell you that if you really want Hallmark, it's probably best to switch to another provider that has those same "garbage channels" and maybe higher fees, contracts and might also go out in bad weather.

Oh puhleeze!  Who is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to pay for U-Verse (or any pay TV provider)?   Garbage channels?  What pay TV service only carries channels that are important to you?  That would be none.  Ala carter channels will most likely never happen.  You can get close with a high speed internet connection and Hulu Plus and/or Roku.  While it is true that most only watch the same few channels, it is often the channel providers that force pay TV into buying channels that few watch.

I do hope that Hallmark comes back and as UV edges toward 6 milluion TV subs, they will have better bargaining power.  It does suck that the channels have been gone this long.

Since ATT is buying DirecTV which has the Hallmark channels, do you think Uverse will absorb the programming rights?

First, that's just been rumored.  Nothing is set in stone.

Secondly, probably not.  Contracts don't just transfer over in cases like this.

When Time Warner and Comcast swapped territories, some channels ended up disappearing after a period of time.  Until Time Warner settled their long-running NFL dispute, the Comcast areas swapped over to Time Warner still got their NFL Network.  However, when those areas fully became controlled by Time Warner, NFL Network disappeared.

  1. Not having 5 million uverse subscribers is one thing. Not having the combined 25 million Uverse and Directv subscribers is a whole other thing. Although  this merger will take a while to be completed I can see hallmark and AT&T maybe sitting down for some discussions again.
