WeatherChannel--Local on the 8s LOCAL FEEDS????????????????????????????? PLEASE?????

Before I signed up for Uverse, Sales told me I "would" be getting TheWeatherChannel with Local on the 8's.  Well, not exactly, as I get Local on the 8's, but it is big-city-wise all over the country (like what you see in hotels when traveling)! 

I need my local weather feed as we get severe weather here often and you are foolish to leave home without checking first.  I cannot get the severe weather alerts that scroll across the screen and that's what appears once my weather radio goes off.

And no, I don't have time to check online when I am getting ready to leave home or multitasking.  Nor should I have to do that, it's what TV is for...listening and watching!

I hear that an anytime-scrolling local weather will one-of-these-days-be-available for the GO INTERACTIVE button, but I need my Local on the 8's!

I want my Local on the 8's as promised for the Houston area.  Pleeeeeese, AT&T!

I completely agree and I'm also frustrated with the lack of local weather.

I agree. They need these local on the 8s. I was told I would be getting them when I first signed up. I have been lied to by AT&T.

Agreed, need LOCAL weather. If not the Weather Channel, the local NBC station does all day weather on TW Cable, add that to the line-up

Those channels are free OTA here in Houston, not sure why it is so difficult to get these on U-verse.

I don't understand it either.  And apparently it was being requested (not available) all the way back to the SanAntonio rollout!  So that's been over a year now.

Yet another wool blanket that was pulled over our eyes. We were lied to about Wholehouse DVR, U-bar(being able to look up phone numbers in the yellow pages, play games, download pictures and other interactive features), Web-Remote access to DVR and now this. When will all of these features or channels be function ATT?

I might have been the original questioner about Local on the 8's ...  am from San Antonio and am somewhat of a 'U-Verse pioneer' having had U-Verse since Aug. 2006.  I spent a fair bit of time having AT&T research this problem and in the end, was told, "We are working on it, but we will have it".  They insinuated that it would be early in the new year (2007) ... but obviously we are still without.  I too NEED by Local on the 8's ................. please provide at least a guestimate as to when we can look forward to getting some real weather!!!  Thanks.

so can somebody explain what this local on the 8's business is all about?

I just watch the local news in the mornings and evenings, and check their websites while at work if I need weather info...  in addition to forecastfox.

what am I missing?  lol

Well, here in Houston, any time it rains heavily, you need to know about flash flooding before you leave the house.  Local on the 8's is on 24/7 and the severe weather alerts coincide with NOAA (on weather radios).  I just prefer it to going online as I'm not always on the computer.  And some IT depts. at workplaces lock you out of anything that isn't on the company LAN.  So unless you bring your own laptop to work...

I guess for me it is like how some people are freaking out over not being able to get the sports packages they want--I don't get that! The deal is, it was promised, and those of us who were counting on it when we signed up, got sold a bill of goods.

yeah I don't get the sports thing either.  I hide all 20 espn channels and all that crap anyway - it's as worthless to me as QVC and HSN.  lol  I was floored last night when I came over to this forum for the first time in a while and saw all that crap about BTN.

Gotcha on that view though!  Now QVC can be entertaining and I have found good deals on electronics there.  And they often offer 'easy pay' where you have no interest using a credit card and the payments are for several months.

The internet is a much more up-to-the-minute source for information on flooding or bad weather of any kind. I live in Houston and abc13.com is much more accurate than watching the weather channel. Also you can go to NOAA.com and type in your zipcode or weather.com and do the same thing. NOAA.com is actually the government agency that all weather channels get their info from anyway, so why not go straight to the source? Dish network never had true local on the 8's and I havn't floated away yet!!

I know, but I would like to have it "back" as I have had it for years; much like people are wanting their sports channels, one doesn't seem to be enough.  Guess it's just what one gets used to viewing.

My wife was not best pleased with the fact that we cannot get the weather like we did on Dish with U-verse.. Watch out ATT they wrath of my wife is not something you want to incur belive me i know from experiance... But she does check it on weather.com and it is up to date so its not that bad... Local on the 8s would be great though...
