Uploading files causes extreme stuttering on TV

Hello!

We've had U-verse TV/Internet/VOIP for a couple of years now, but we're encountering a new phenomenon. We have the 12/1.5 Internet plan and 3HD/1SD on the TV side (a good connection). Our up and down speeds always measure well. I can download large files while we watch TV, no problem, even while recording 3 HDTV shows.

But lately, if I upload a large file, say a video to YouTube, or backing up files to Dropbox, it absolutely destroys TV viewing. At first, it was only stuttering and stopping of On Demand movies on the sub boxes (we have Total Home DVR). But now, it even affects live TV on the main box. The image will stutter and stop, sometimes the audio will drop out. Occasionally, I'll get that warning page that the station isn't coming in at all.

Is this a new and known issue with a known fix? Should we contact AT&T or is this just how it is now? (Is this a TV issue that should have been posted in that forum insted?)

Download Uverse Realtime from http://www.uvrealtime.com and post the following screenshots: IP/Profile, Error Table, Bitloading. Also make sure in the configuration tab, that you check the box to hide your personal info.

Yes, you definitely have issues. Contact Tech support at 800-288-2020, or Customer Care at http://forums.att.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage/tab/compose/note-to-user-id/192773 through a private message. Could be that you have a Bridge Tap on the line, which is causing the issues.

I started encountering that same issue yesterday but it's currently limited to OnDemand video's only.  

Kernelg, were you able to solve this issue?

Not yet. In fact, "The line looks good" according to tests this morning. That has only started to happen recently, so there must be something new going on.

And right now, with no uploads going, the Internet and TV are both stopping randomly. Maybe I should have kept quiet.
