U-verse Internet Download Slows Down Everything [ Edited ]

Hello,

Whenever I download a file on the internet, the internet on every computer and wireless device becomes unusable and sometimes the TVs until the download is finish. What can I do about this?

Use of the internet should have no impact on your TV signal because TV has a higher priority than internet; however, use of the internet on one computer could impact other computers accessing the internet because the internet bandwidth is being shared by all devices connected to the internet.

What kind of files are being downloaded, and how is your computer connected to the network?

They are various files such as zips, rars, flash, mp3s. The computers and devices are all wireless. Downloads do affect the TVs. The signals on TVs will breakup and I  can not watch On Demand.

Download the Realtime app and install it.  Once it is installed run the program and take screen shots of your stats and post them here.  That way someone can see if you are getting a lot of errors or if there is some other problem with your install.

No, downloads should not effect U-verse TV; however, use of the U-verse TV can effect U-verse internet.  The U-verse bandwidth priority is as follows:

1. U-verse voice

2. U-verse TV

3. U-verse internet

If this some type of file sharing program that you are using to do the downloads?  I have seen those programs cause issues with other devices on the network.

It's a FTTP connection. What exactly do I take a screenshot of?

I understand the priority list, but for some reason when there is a download the TV connection does mess up sometimes. I've had U-verse for about a year now and it wasn't always like this; I think it became this way 3 months ago. If there is a download that takes hours, there will be no internet for hours and I have to hope that the TV connection stays stable.

Priority for TV streams are prioritized higher than internet, however on demand content is QoS'd the same as internet.

It sounds to me like your line isn't provisioned correctly if this behavior is going on.  Internet is not supposed to affect other devices.
