I have been traveling a lot over the past couple of weeks and didn't have a chance to call AT&T until yesterday. Tier 1 support was not terribly helpful. They did confirm that I have the 6.1 firmware, but when they tried to change my profile to the 25/2, they got some kind of 'incompatibility' error.
Tier 2 support said that I am 3200 feet away from the VRAD, and they don't think that I can get 2 HD streams. However, they are supposed to send a technician to the VRAD this morning to make some kind of change, and then the tech is supposed to come to my house to see if everything works. Will let you know how I fare... Tier 2 said that even if it does work, I might experience increased pixelation, lost signals, etc.
FWIW, neither Tier 1 nor Tier 2 seemed to know what pair bonding is. (I don't really know, either. I was just trying to educate myself.) Tier 2 did say that they are working on some technology to compress the HD streams enough so that they can send 2 of them over the 19 profile without loss of picture quality.
Maybe this is silly of me to ask, but if there is a large population in an area that is over 3000 feet from a VRAD, should AT&T consider installing an additional VRAD? I don't know what kind of expense goes into that. But I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who would leave uverse (or not get it in the first place) if I can only get 1 HD stream. Especially when I'm not paying any less for my tv service than people who get 2 or more HD streams.
kryptonite, I completely understand their reluctance to announce roll-out dates. I just find it very frustrating on my end. And if they said it was a rumor that I would be able to get 2 HD streams within a couple of months (which they did), but then it didn't happen, I wouldn't call them back furiously. I'm trying to work with AT&T to see if they can give me what I want. If that isn't going to happen before college football season starts, though, I'll just switch back to cable.

MammaMia,
Download 2WireRealtime from here, run it and post screenshots of the IP/Profile and Bitloading tabs. This should give us some information on your line and its capabilities, and if there are any problems that need to be looked at, and will tell us what your proper profile should be.

MammaMIa,
Disregard my last ... you had already posted this towards the top of the thread.
You may have to try to contact David or Matt to get the profile changed. Tier 1/2 is sometimes not helpful with this.
David and/or Matt can be contacted using the instructions here.

My connection at least number wise is worse than yours but i have 2hd/2sd in fact had it since day one and never had any major issues i have no idea what the distance is to the vrad but i remember the guy saying i was far.
I used to have a lot of corrected blocks but since the update to Protocol G.993.2 all the errors have been minimal and had 0 issues with the line.... you should be able to get 2hd streams....

The tech came this morning, and right now THERE ARE TWO TVS IN MY HOUSE TUNED INTO HD CHANNELS AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! And the tech did not need to do anything at the VRAD. He called the same tech support that we call and had them change the profile. Why they couldn't do it for me, but would do it for him, ... who knows. My annoyance with tech support pales in comparison with my exuberance that I now have 2 HD streams.
Before the profile was swiched, the tech said that he was suprised at how strong a signal I am getting with such a great distance to the VRAD. Anyway, here are my new screen shots:

Probably they did it for him when he was there, so that he could diagnose any problems and if it wouldn't work properly, roll you back to 1 HD. ![]()

The mod has to approve your picture before it will show to the rest of us, when it's approved I'll take a look.

Rygar,
You are very far from the VRAD (2100-2500'). Your line is barely handling the 25 Mbps profile (bits in use = 98%).
The noise margin is in red because of the very small amount of overhead that your line has left.
You can probably stay on the 24 Mbps profile for now, but I would watch your bits in use very closely. If it gets to 100%, your line may start taking errors, giving you picture freezes and pixelation. If that happens, there will be no recourse except to lower the profile to 19/2.

Thank you joe....
I had it for almost a year now and i must say i had very little issues with it hopefully it will stay that way .... hopefully they will add another vrad closer or pairbonding if it ever takes off will give me some more breathing room....
