Needs to re-enter password each time connecting wireless computer for each session

Hi, Every single time I want to connect my computer to internet using an ATT modem U-Verse I have to reenter my modem password. Windows 7 will not remember it as it did with former DSL modem off the shelves. I am using a USB wifi dongle. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Hi veritas1017,

I recommend checking the Wireless Zero Configuration is running on your Windows 7 PC. To do this you can follow the steps below

Wireless Zero Configuration

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

  • Double-click WLAN AutoConfig.

Under the General tab, change the Startup Type to Automatic.

  • Click Apply.

  • Select the Recovery tab.

  • Choose Restart the Service from the drop-down options for First Failure, Second Failure, and Subsequent Failures.

  • Click Apply.

  • Select the General tab.

  • Click Start under Service Status section.

If it's not remembering your password, it's likely a problem with your computer or wireless adapter.

I'm curious if your computer keeps resetting the wireless profiles or your wireless adapter keeps registering itself as a new adapter.

When you go to the Network and Sharing Center on Windows 7, click on the "Manage Wireless Networks."

What does it say for "Manage wireless networks that use ------"

If it says something like Wireless Network Connection with a really high number, you probably have your adapter acting up.
