I just got the ATT Uverse product: phone, internet,tv. I love it so far!!!
The only advantage I can see over cable is the fact that it only has a number of HD streams?! What happens if I want to get like 10 TVs and have them be all HD?
I also, currently in my living room I have an HD tv but its old school type (not the flat screen type). Anyway, I was using Charter cable and the minute I switched to ATT Uverse the HD image was greatly improved. Is it only beacuse with ATT Uverse I had the standard cables connecting my cable box to my tv and with ATT Uverse I got the upgraded component cables?
thanks in advance!!

Cable TVs achiles heel is the fact they pipe 1 feed to the box and split it out to everyone in the neighborhood,as the amount of subscribers increase the signal degrades, internet runs slower,my dad has comcast and the 19-20 meg? and in the am he gets his advertised speeds but a lil aftewr 5pm hes lucky to get a page to load.UVERSE is dedicated to ur home,no sharing signals or bandwidth with your neighbors
what do you mean no sharing signals or bandwidth?! I thought both cable and ATT have shared connections...just that ATT gets shared at the local office rather than at the local neighborhood nodes like cable

You're right that there is bandwidth sharing whether you are on cable or UVerse. Cable gets split out many times before it hits your house, then it gets split some more. That said, the typical cable bandwidth that hits your house is many times that of UVerse. Hence, better picture quality, faster internet and more simultaneous channels (ideally). With UVerse, you get a specified bandwidth at the house, usually 25 Mbps, and this gets divided between your four allowed streams and internet.
So why go with UVerse rather than cable? Cable has squandered its technological lead with bad equipment, limited channel selections, intermittent service, poor technical support, high prices and an arrogant attitude. Welcome to UVerse.

I'm glad that you inserted the qualification "ideally" in there because when we shifted from Comcast to UV our HD picture quality improved very noticeably. Perhaps, under "ideal" conditions cable should deliver better image quality but, in our cast, the reverse was true.

The one advantage that cable had over Uverse was better HD picture quality.
Overall Uverse is a better fit for my family.

The other way around for me my cable service compressed the signal so much Uverse beat it.
