Are both AT&T U-verse and Verizon FIOS is available in your neighborhood?

U-Verse should add NBA TV and NBA League Pass sometime between today and December 31st, 2018.
Until then, you can get NBA League Pass online through the NBA website. (Heck, google "Streaming NBA" for more info.)

I live in DFW and at one time the FIOS website said my address was eligible for service, but when I called them they told me I wasn't.

I have to add on a message in support of NBA League Pass. I believe that my new apartment complex has an exclusivity agreement with AT&T. At first I thought the direct fiber to the unit would be great, but it turns out the internet speed is pathetic compared to FiOS and not really faster than my current cable connection. They don't work with Cablecards so I have to get rid of my HD-Tivos. OK I can deal. But now you're telling me that I can't even get NBA League Pass?!?!!? Are you [text removed - keep it courteous] kidding me? Wasn't this what the whole FCC ruling about cable exclusivity was all about?! Can't some hotshot young attorney go take care of this? It's a slam dunk case!

Don't get too bent about this. AT&T is not a major player and unless they step up and start getting some of this highly requested programming(NBA, MLB Network, Tennis Channel, EPIX), they never will be.

The FCC ruling states that cable companies cannot enforce an exclusivity portion of their contract with an apartment complex (multi dwelling unit / MDU). But the apartment complex is free to exclusively provide only one provider if they want to. It is their property, if they want to restrict what their residents are allowed to have, they can.
If indeed your apartment complex has chosen to exclusively provide AT&T U-Verse, they are not in violation of anything, and there is no litigation here.
Furthermore, in most states, AT&T is not regulated as a cable TV service, and probably doesn't fall under the FCC's ruling in this matter anyway.

Well, that could certainly be the case. Quite an unfortunate turn of events. I was looking forward to upgrading my internet and television connections upon moving to SF, but as it stands today, this is a downgrade from my run-of-the-mill RCN cable connection in most respects. I'm now even reading that DVR might only be able to record one HD recording at a time? Hopefully they magically get NBA League Pass this year. Super depressing.

True, it's not as clear, but given the right wires, you can plug a computer into a TV.
I'd say that the computer version also has the ability to log in anywhere around the world, unlike the TV version, but I *think* the TV version includes the online version??

It depends on where you live in relation to the VRAD. I can get 3 HD and record 2 HD at a time. It is true that some people can only view/record 1 HD at a time.

Yeah, but how many of these "one post" people "PLEASE ADD THIS CHANNEL OR I WILL SWITCH" really are subscribers? I could make 15 accounts right now all asking for different channels and never use those accounts again.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these people are paid by the competition to smear AT&T. A real subscriber would post more than once. A real subscriber would probably "look before leaping."

Well, if you read the post you will realize that there is no "look before leaping" in this case. It is the only choice. I doubt Verizon would find it useful to spend time posting on the NBA League Pass thread. I suppose that I could have chosen the apartment based on its cable service, but frankly the spread of cable options is not the first nor 10th thing that one typically asks about, especially since EVERY other service option I've ever had - DirectTV, Time Warner, Dish Network, Comcast, even RCN (who?!) - has had NBA League Pass. That in addition to many other inconveniences makes the switch quite unpalatable. I really have no recourse except to beg....so here I am.

It appears that everyone here thinks I'm an angry maniac....So then tell me, what do you all like about this service so much? What do I have to look forward to? For those who have a choice, why have you picked this over other services? From the standpoint of a newcomer:
TV:
vs. Cable: Perhaps Uverse has more second tier HD channels (like Bravo, SyFy and Spike as well as others I don't care about like MTV), but lacking any premium sports channels. Less compatibility with hardware (ie. cablecards and Tivos). Perhaps inferior ability to DVR multiple channels, depending on where you live....I believe I can record 4 HD channels at a time with my (never have been limited that I can remember with my really bargain basement) cable service.
vs. Dish: Seems like about the same number of HD channels, but lacking any premium sports channels. Dish has same lack of support for cablecard products, but you can use their Tivos. DTV has even cornered the market on NFL Sunday ticket...impressive.
vs. FiOS: Similar number of HD channels, but vs. FiOS it again lacks premium sports channels and does not support cablecard hardware (unlike FiOS).
Internet:
vs. Phone line DSL: Definitely faster than DSL.
vs Cable: Marginally better if at all (wasn't this the whole point of fiberoptic to the unit?!). Similar download speeds and maybe marginally faster upload speeds.
vs FiOS: Quite a bit inferior in both maximum download speed and REALLY inferior when comparing upload speed.... unlike 5 years ago, upload has become much more important with how much stuff happens on the "cloud".
vs. Webpass: Not a contest with this service able to get 100/100mbps, but that's not fair as most people in the country can't get this (except for the area I will be living in...they are also itching to get into the building...they also charge ~$20 less per month...ouch).
All this and it's actually slightly more expensive than the service I currently have. You all seem like pretty devoted customers, so in which way am I looking at this incorrectly? Can anyone throw me a bone here?

HOW DO YOU COME TO AN AGREEMENT ON NBA TV AND STILL NOT HAVE ONE IN PLACE WITH THE LEAGUE PASS?!?!? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AN OPTIONAL ADD ON SERVICE THAT CUSTOMERS THAT CHOOSE TO ORDER PAY A PREMIUM ON. what is so difficult about this? absolutely mind blowing.

I know your frustration. U-verse is dragging it's feet with MLB EI and MLB Network. At least basketball fans now have NBA TV. Us baseball fans don't get anything MLB, just a 1 Feb 11 PRICE INCREASE!

Perhaps the discussion in the thread below might shed some light so that things not quite so mind blowing.

It's believed that AT&T would have to be responsible for paying the NBA (and other leagues) a certain fee per season in order to carry these packages. Obviously, not everyone with AT&T would want to subscribe to these. AT&T would most likely have to pay the NBA their asking price, no matter how many people sign up.
With that said, AT&T probably doesn't have enough subscribers to make the investment worthwhile.
In the meantime, check out these links:
http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/broadband/index.html $64.95 gets you access to seven teams, or $99.95 gets you the whole package.
http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/mobile/index.html $29.99 lets you watch on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Android.
