They're planning something *similar*, whatever that is. And people have been wanting LOT8s since San Antonio went live, that's been going on 2 years. If they were going to do it, they would have done it by now.
My sources say they are too cheap, among other things; a simple piece of equipment needs to be installed and someone to flip the switch every 8 min. 
So, I hope AT&T enjoys continued loss of customers to Cable...

This is right in line with what is happening in connecticut where the local cable company has an exclusive contract with MSNBC and some other stations/areas. I think since Uverse is *new* that they simply haven't had the time to deal with the entrenchment that has been going on for years now with cable. You hafta figure that cable has done whatever it could to ensure that their market would remain THEIR market for as long as possible. This is why they have exclusive contracts with everything, from channels to apartment complexes to entire cities. Not sure if Uverse does that but I hope that they do not. Might sound odd but IMHO I believe that all providers should have the same chance at providing content as other providers so situations like this do not happen. Competition can be a favorable thing, it doesn't have to be destructive like this...
This doesn't hurt the cable company, it only hurts consumers (and newer services like Uverse that have to wait for contracts to expire, if they ever do..)
I'll never tell, but let's just say there are people here who give hints based on proprietary info all the time.

Those people with the ATT globes under their name who give hints based on proprietary info aren't a really chatty bunch, and OP doesn't count. He just likes to fly the flag.
Edit, sorry if I'm skeptical about what you were told Spd. I'm one of those skeptical type of people though who has to actually read the info before I believe it. If I saw an official announcement from ATT somewhere, or if one of our mods posted about it in detail, then we would have something to go on. But a post detailing how they're offering an alternative to LOT8 doesn't necessarily mean that they will not ever release LOT8 in the future. That post is being interpreted for more than it is I believe. Spd, Pip, et al, I would really hope you guys don't leave UV just because of a weather channel. I'm not trying to minimize this, but you've got to ask yourself is it really worth it to switch back?
Anyways if people here do decide to go over this, stick around the boards anyways. You're still good people, if only a lil bit nutty (unlike me, who is totally well grounded)

However, the LOT8s doesn't have an exclusive contrcat. All the other services have it including FiOS (Verizon's version of U-verse) and some Dish companies.

SPD is being rather disingenuous with the half-truthful sig. 
"insider" info says that there were be no TWC LOT8's, but there will be a non-Ubar local weather/radar channel at some point in the future.
It is beyond me how people can complain about a new feature before it is even released.

I want new folks to know the real deal (even though Sales says otherwise).And I'm not complaining, just informing the new/potential UV-ers.Other people keep asking for it, so it's not just me. But it has been going on 2 years since San Antonio and nothing yet for local weather. I think that's been more than enough time.

As for the local on the 8's, it was better than what we had through TWC/Comcast. We had some channels (208, 209) that were connected via NBC and CBS showing local radar etc, but the problem was is it didn't show it all the time. Had to sift through the Akron weather and the Mansfield weather and sometimes other nearby states, like PA.
If AT&T can come up with something specific to our own areas, or very, very near, I have no problem with that. All we want is a feature we had with a previous provider, that's all, or perhaps something similar and no, Ubar, from what I have heard, doesn't cut it.
As for the selective memory thing, that does not happen in this household via either me or my husband. I put up with that crap from my mother too long to start playing that game. Besides, who can remember that far back anyway!!
