Looks like these channels are in jeopardy now. I hope ATT can work something out.

Interesting. Did anyone here receive a post card about this? What comes up when I select TX:

Hopefully they can work things out or there will be a lot of unhappy wives/girlfriends resorting in unhappy husbands/boyfriends.

Here is comes. Wait for it. People in hysterics who do not thoroughly read the postcard. Incidentally, I did not receive one. Another round of Hallmark, AMC, Scripps Network type U-Verseageddon.
Please, U-Verse subscribers, read the message and/or postcard thoroughly. There is nothing in there that says the Lifetime channels will be pulled. It is a Federal regulation that cable/satellite providers are required to give notice when a contract is coming up for renewal.
Owning a computer and not having the internet is like buying a refrigerator and not stocking it with food.

It would be good if people could just wait until they see the outcome of the negotiations before they got hysterical. Being upset over a channel is reasonable and to be expected. Voicing your desire for a channel to be kept is reasonable. Hysterics while the channel is still available...

Considering we've heard nothing about this until today from either side, it would seem that the two sides expect that a deal will be reached before the deadline.

AFAIK, there was NO postcard; but look at the date, January 18th. They are supposed to follow FCC rules and let customers know of any impending, possible channel changes. The screenshot above is what I pulled from the Uverse site.

Well maybe not hysterics but disappointment that AT&T seems to have forgotten the rule (which ever rule it is) that written notices must be given. Comcast buried it in their bill (usually) but I did not recall getting any 30 day written notification for Lifetime.
Can you say "FCC Violation?" txnroger, any info on why notice was not given?
Same info when I choose Indiana.

The following is from the Automated Channel Negotiation Hysteria System.
OH MY GOD! HOW HORRIBLE UVERSE IS. If (name of channel 1) and (name of channel 2) is not maintained, I will leave Uverse by (insert time frame). I pay (insert cable rate) per month and this is ridiculous. Why can't Uverse provide what (insert name of competitive service) provides. (name of channel 1) is the only channel my family ever watches. That's why we have U-Verse. Please U-verse - get a clue. Every other service has (name of channel 2). We need this kind of programming.
The ACNHS still has some bugs, but I'm hoping that eventually, "Watson-like" technology will be available to read AT&T postcards and respond accordingly using natural language.
PS - MLB would be nice too...

I hope that ATT and Life Time Networks work things out. However none of the channels listed are channels that I watch.

Not nitpicking but I believe that it is Lifetime not Life Time.

I could be mistaken, but I think I heard something about Verizon Fios not having to abide by rules having to do with something because they are an internet-based service, unlike a traditional service such as Comcast or DirecTV.
Anyone know what i'm thinking of, and could AT&T fall under the same category?

I know what you're thinking of...the FCC was given authority to regulate phone companies, cable companies, and broadcasters. But IPTV is a "convergent" technology that doesn't fall neatly into any of those domains. There is a lot of debate (in Congress, in the industry, in the FCC, and even court rulings) about where jurisdiction lies or should lie with regard to the Internet or IPTV. For the time being, AT&T U-verse and Verizon FiOS appear to be behaving as if they were traditional cable companies, even though they aren't, while other media companies (Apple, Google, Netflix, etc.) operate completely outside the regulatory realm.

Not sure I'm buying that since cities/municipalities HAVE found a way to tax UV (recently) as if it were Cable.

Local authorities can tax anything they want to. If they can tax your dog based on his breed and ability to reproduce, they can darn well tax your TV, no matter it receives its content. This is unrelated to federal regulation, the reach of which is limited by the Constitution.
To stay on topic, I don't see how U-verse is obligated by FCC social regulations to inform subscribers of the status of a carrier agreement. Any information subscribers get (by any means) is more likely the result of a business decision.

Well, the channels are still on, but it looks like they are being bumped into higher tiers:

For those that don't want to open the files, here's the deal:
On May 6th, 2011:
Lifetime moves from U-100 to U-200.
Lifetime Real Women moves from U-200 to U-450. Ouch.
So now, do we have to say that the U-450 includes everything in the U-300, PLUS HBO/Cinemax, PLUS the Sports Pack, PLUS Lifetime Real Women?

Lifetime sure thinks alot of themselves huh? From U-200 to U-450? Doesn't effect me since I already have the U450 and neither the wife or I watch either channel and I have them hidden in the guide.

WAAAAAAAAAAAIT.. before everyone freaks out, I screwed up my previous post!
Here is the real deal:
On May 6, 2011 Lifetime Movie Network (Channel 362) and Lifetime Movie Network HD (Channel 1362) will move from U100 to U200.
In addition, Lifetime Real Women (Channel 364) will move from U200 to U450.

I'm wondering if that's a typo & it's really moving to U300.

Probably not if it's an official filing. One would think that they would have fact checkers, double and triple checkers. That is a huge jump for a niche channel.

Typically, the more "niche" a channel is, the higher up it is. However, that sure is odd. Everything in the U-400 is in some sort of package, such as Movie Pack, HBO, Cinemax, or Sports Pack. To have one channel all by itself is most peculiar indeed.
