No one on this forum can give you that answer. We are all subscribers to U-Verse just like you. None of us have inside information about whether or not AT&T is currently negotiating with Root Sports.
I would hope that U-Verse would eventually get Root Sports back. The more channels the better.

All I can say is that in December 2012 when we ordered out U-Verse package, ROOT sports was listed as available in our area. The Pittsburgh channel was the main reason we chose ATT U-Verse over some other services.
Lo and behold, even though the three ROOT channels were listed on the AT&T website as available in our area, our channel guide the techs left us at installation showed them as part of our package, and all the local listings showed them as available on our service, they were NOT.
Call us ticked off. I spoke to at least six people, NONE of whom could give a satisfactory answer as to just WHY we weren't getting 'em. Finally, I spoke to a tech guy in the Video Hub area who went into the bowels of the system, and he said they weren't even a part of the lineup. ![]()
I had to call the sales/customer service folks to tell them that some channels they were using as selling points, were, indeed, UNAVAILABLE. They did give us some credits to offset the lack of the channels we were promised and all the time/angst/trouble, but dangit, we want our Penguins!
Okay... rant sort of complete. No one I spoke with (as of late February) had any clue whether or not the three ROOT channels would be back, or even if negotiations were in progress.
It seems that AT&T doesn't want their sales force to know all the details. It was like pulling teeth getting the channel lineup from them in the first place (prior to ordering), and even after we got it, it was wrong, wrong, wrong.
That's like saying there are three pairs of sock in a package and only getting two. BAD, BAD, BAD, and not the fault of the sales force or customer service folks that management cannot keep them informed of what is actually available in various parts of the country.
If the customer service folks hadn't been so accommodating with crediting our account for all their mis-steps, we would have canceled the whole shebang after three days.
NOTE TO AT&T U-VERSE MANAGEMENT: GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! DON'T PROMISE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS CHANNELS THEY CANNOT HAVE! KEEP YOUR SALES FORCE INFORMED!
It's sad that the customers have to tell the company customer service people that what they're touting in their sales pitch is inaccurate.

You didn't say where you are located, but I looked up the channel lineup for 44202 and did not see Root Sports Pittsburgh listed.
I did look at the local team territory site, and it listed FSN Pittsburgh, but that clearly was not up-to-date.

The sales people seem to be the last to find out what the current U-Verse lineup is. The people on this forum, especially the veterans, know the lineup much more than any sales person who will say anything to make a sale.
Even if Root Sports Pittsburgh was still on the U-Verse lineup, do you live in the region actually served by that channel? If not, the Penguins games would be blacked out anyway due to National Hockey League rules (not U-Verse rules).
I assume this regional map for the former Fox Sports Pittsburgh is the same for Root Sports Pittsburgh.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. The website and channel listing is updated within a few days of channels being removed. Root went away in June and the website no longer showed them by the first week of July.

Dunno what happened before December 2012, but when I was on the phone with at least two of the customer service reps between December 19th (when we ordered the service) and mid-January 2013 (when the tech guy at the Video Hub confirmed ROOT sports was not available in the system), I was online looking at the info and they were looking at their lineup on their internal info list -- and both reflected ROOT sports as available. The channel guides the tech guys left us on December 20th also showed the three ROOT sports networks as part of our U-300 U-Verse package.
It wasn't until late January 2013 (after our debacle and repeated conversations with customer service) that the ROOT sports channels finally disappeared from the ATT U-Verse website.

The only one of the three Root Sports channels that offered live professional games to the U-verse footprint was Root Sports Pittsburgh (formerly Ch. 1730) - to Northeastern and Central Ohio. NE Ohio subscribers to the HD Premium Tier received Pittsburgh Penguins NHL games (MLB Pirates blacked out due to the Indians).
While in Central Ohio, Root Sports Pittsburgh provided MLB Pittsburgh Pirates games to those with HD Premium (NHL Penguins blacked out due to the Blue Jackets). It looks like I will miss the Pirates again this season
. The channel was removed at midnight on 07/01/12.

Right but printed materials in the AT&T stores and carried by sales personnel, may not be the latest / greatest. I'm sure that some salesmen still have channel guides, showing Hallmark, lol. That does blow and even if a customer looks at the website, there are certainly lots of channels to review.
