IFC in Birmingham, Alabama

The biggest regret that I have about leaving dishnetwok is that i no longer get IFC. I recently noticed that IFC has been added as channel 797 on ATT's internet guides. Sadly, it does not show in my channel listing or on my tv. Does anyone know anyone who cares enough about uverse subscribers to fix this?

I attempted to follow the advice in http://utalk.att.com/utalk/board/message?board.id=Uverse_TV_Programming&thread.id=16001 and ended up spending about 40 minutes being transfered between several "customer service" people who seemingly could not quite grasp the english language. After several more minutes on hold I hung up after before reaching anyone who may have had a vague chance of remedy. If, rather than ordering online, it had been necessary to speak to these people to initiate service I would still be a Dish Network customer. The installer was a complete buffoon who initially attemped to drape the line over my roof. After telling me he had to have a single run of cable to the first box he instead cut a line coming from the dish that had been put in the wall during construction and pulled it into the attic where he spliced it with the new line. I believe that ATT's approach is to make it diffucult for customers dissatisfied with poor customer service, incomplete channel line-ups, and incompetent installation to switch back to other carriers.

incomplete channel line ups? they do provide every channel possible they can... trust me. || for some sports networks u might get the channel, but because of city blackout laws you might not get them.

incompetent installation? Possibly. but let you know every tech has to take their time to identify lines and EVERY install is DIFFERENT.

a lot of customers getting installed complain about install times, but when the tech arrives hes got to identify/run lines, figure out where and how to run them and much more.

its a large process.

Maybe I misunderstand the original poster's question but.....assuming I do.....here is a question: Have you checked to make sure that channel 797 is not hidden?

Go to "menu/options/channel options/ hide channels" to check. If it IS hidden then simply click on channel 797 to make it visable in the guide and available during channel surfing. IF it is NOT hidden.....well then you should call customer service.

I just checked our guide and this channel IS available here in the Kansas City area.

Do you have proof to back up you statement? I know a number of ex-U-verse customers. Some of them still frequent this forum.

Per the packages, it shows IFC (Indepedent Film Channel) is available on packages U200 and above. So that means if you are on U-Family or U100, the channel is not available.

Now on 2nd thought, I know AMC (American Movie Classics) is part of the channel line-up, except in certain states, which did effect Alabama and, because of something contractual with the parent company of Cablevision. Anyone know if IFC parent company is Cablevision as well?

Just a thought.
