A lot of people out there with questions about this, I am trying to get my system as simple as possible. Right now this is set up:
coax in - uverse net receiver - dvr - component cables - hauppage - htpc - tv
simpler way? cannot drop the stb, kind of annoying but i understand they want the $$ from it. worst is that if i am using the uverse stb and it goes through my hauppage in real time, there is like a 2 second delay when using the remote. beyond that not too big a deal...

paradiselost79 - Not sure what your question is. For your amount of equipment simple is not an option.
Sounds like you have it connected correctly/
There should be no delay changing channels. The U-verse equipment does appear somewhat underpowered - If you stress it a bit with work it will delay while processing menus.

paradiselost79 - I was rereading your post & see a couple of other issues -
The STB is needed to convert the IP "signal" to a TV "signal" that TVs & the Hauppage can recognize.
If STB software was available for the HTPC, both the STB and the Hauppage could be eliminated. Maybe, someday, once viewing on other devices opens the door.
Are you saying the Hauppage - HTPC - TV path is what is slowing things down? You could connect the TV directly via HDMI inn a parallel path. This can add complexity if you use HD to the Hauppage without the TV on. The STB will revert to SD.
