My thought is that the HD Premium Tier is actually what we are getting for the additional $10 a month. Could be wrong because I do subscribe, so I don't know if you could watch that channel if you didn't subscribe. It's all pretty confusing to me, and the post card didn't help matters. All I know is that nobody that I talked to today seemed to understand it at all other than to guess like the rest of us are doing. SO I guess we just need someone that doesn't subscribe to HD to see if they get the Univ HD channel.

Okay, in my answer in the other thread, I did state my friend did not have HD service back in March and got the you are not subscribed message on all of the HD channels, but once she subbed to it after getting her TV set in Aug or Sept, she was then able to view them, and I am not talking about any of the premium channels either. She's had the U400 from the gitgo and was never able to view those channels in HD either till she started subscribing to the HD service. ![]()

I remember reading posts a couple months ago that some people were getting some HD channels on their SD sets w/o subscribing to the HD tier. This may be what the postcard is referring to, since no one @ 2020 seems to know what the 'premium tier' is. ![]()

All I know for sure is nobody seems to know what Premium HD Tier is.
Yea, best to just wait it out and see what happens, unless someone comes out with one of those sources.

But even though she didn't see the channels in HD, could she still watch the channels?

This same thing happened when I was with DirecTv. I have no doubt AT&T is going the same route as DTV and Dish (don't know about cable) and are going to charge extra ($5) for 5 or so HD channels.
When it happened at DTV there was the same confusion but in the end everyone had to pony up or drop the channels.
When they finally came clean on what was going on they gave us 3 months free before the billing started. At which time I dropped the "extra pack" as I never watched any of the channels.

Ok.. I got the postcard today...10/18 and immediately called CS aside from the irritating automated guy who can NEVER figure out what I want, I got transferred 5 times. The last rep admitted he knew nothing about this other than there is a postcard out there...
So.. we love our TV's. All 4 have HD programming with the U400 pkg and everything else they offer...(well, not quite, not extra sports and no international stuff) but a zillion movie channels, etc. I didn't hand over my landline phoneto u-verse, but I did go internet and TV... so for $190 per month I was saving about $20 over comcast.
If I read this correctly, I'm going to have to shell out more money for this HD channel, and who knows how many others they will move/add/subtract... Unless they stay under that $20.00 mark, right back to comcast I go!
This was probably the worst decision I have ever made! Faulty installation that took months to get repaired, tiling, freezing, outages and even a shut off for non pay when we had cancelled checks to prove payment!!
I love the fact that there are so many more HD channels than Comcast was providing, I love the DVR and now the additional room watching stuff, but this is just getting out of hand! The worst part is there are something like 1900 posts on this subject all discussing that no one at ATT or on their own web site, knows anything... hmmm
Maybe it was a mistake, maybe they weren't supposed to mail this? Am I dreaming?

As Mark has suggested, till we know for sure what is happening, best to probably not get upset about anything. I know I did at first, but no point in that, is there?
Have patience and wait and see what AT&T does next. ![]()

At this point, the facts are that none of us nor ATT know what the card means. Not even sure if the person that wrote the cards knows what it means. We also know that visiting uconnect won't help because there is no info there. We know that if you don't subscribe to UV that you will obviously not have Univ HD. Last but not least, we know that if we wait until 11/10 or until someone's "source" has more information, we'll find out if it means anything at all at some point.

Well, I think we will all find out what all this means after 4pm Central time today, which is only 30 minutes away. Of course, it might be several hours after that before the AT&T U-verse site is back up, but the timing of this site's downtime seems suspect to me and has since I saw the announcement of it on the page and the spotting of the new channels and received my postcard in the mail. I think the problem is that AT&T sent the postcards and expected people to get them later than what we all got them.
I think what we might see is a HD pack on each level of U-200, U-300 and U-400... Maybe something Like U-200HD, U-300HD and U-400HD with each having their respective SD and HD channels already included for a certain price more than the standard price. Not sure about what this all means for channel 1104. But it may not be as bad as we all expect. I'm personally waiting and seeing until the U-verse site comes back after this outage.

Well, at least everyone is as confused as I am...all I can say is when I signed up about six month ago, I spent time figuring out which package I wanted and would get the most benefit for my cost. That ended up being U300+HD fee. And yes, I do/have watched Universal HD.
I will be extremely upset if AT&T starts rearranging what I had agreed to AND what I was expecting to be added when I signed up. We will see, but I am quite glad I do not have a commitment period at this point.
I quit Cr@ptastic due to their horrible service and disinterest toward me as a long term customer...AT&T be warned: there are other options if you decide to start doing the same.

I have had U-Verse since December 07--both TV and Internet. Next week I am supposed to have voice installed. The service itself is good-excellent. The CUSTOMER SERVICE is an oxymoron--they never know what going on--this postcard is not the first time the operators are kept in the dark while the consumers get information that raises additional questions. For example, when I first ordered HD service it took more than 24 hours and 4 calls to tech support to get it delivered. Then I had a Saturday appointment for voice installation and the tech guys got tied up with other customers and had to cancel because it got dark outside--ATT is famous for over-booking and under-hiring installers.
The truth is, that Time Warner is worse, at least in my area...the quality of TV especially better with ATT--otherwise I'd switch back.
Direct TV and DISH deliver a nice picture, but really don't have an internet provider, and when the weather gets nasty the picture breaks up too often--a problem never occuring with TW or ATT.
Still, this additional cost for something I'm already getting is pretty awful--these people should be made to stick with what they provide us when we sign up within the tier/package we signed up for!
