Thanks u-verse for the free preview. It reminded me why I don't want to pay for U450. A lot of crapola programming that I don't need/want in my house.

I don't think that the U-450 preview has began, yet Jim. This is a separate HBO/Cinemax preview. The 450 preview is later this week, IIRC.

OK, I must be watching the HBO/Skinemax preview. Still don't want to pay for that.

Understand - there is a fairly steep price jump between 300 and 450 or the movie packages that include HBO. I would love it if it were free............. forever...........

I have the 300 package and I am pretty happy with it. My daughter and I have been viewing the movie offerings in HBO and Cinemax, and except for a few movies that she or I wanted to see. For the most part we are still watching the nonpremium channels and my recordings. I know some will love what the premium channels have, but for us, it is nice to watch them for free, but I wouldn't want to pay for them.

After Thanksgiving and your recorded movies are all watched, you can sign up for a three-month free preview of HBO and Cinemax.
If you get the three month preview, the www.hbogo.com and www.maxgo.com sites will work for you to watch programming from those channels on your computer.

Keep in mind:
U-300 is $82 a month. U-450 is $112 a month, but includes the $10 Sports Pack (soon to undergo a change in programming, discussed in another thread), the $10 HD fee, and the $24 HBO/Cinemax pack.
$82 plus $14 for HBO is $96. Add another $10 for HD, and you're at $106. By that point, it almost becomes a wash to get the U-450 over everything "a la carte."

I don't remember even watching single movie and show during the last year Free Preview of HBO/Cinemax. It will probably the same for this year too.
I am looking forward to the U-450 free preview for the sports package ie goltv, espn deportes

Yup, cheaper for me as I want HBO; could do without SINemax, but it comes with HBO.

Nothing personal - I love the folks who call Cinemax, Skinemax or SINemax. They were a lot worse (maybe better if that is how you roll?) and more risqué in the 1980's than they are now. They are darned near tame! ![]()

I used to have Cinemax 7-8 years ago. I see that they are still showing some of the same 'late night' movies I had Tivo'd back then...except now they have even-more-watered-down versions, with many shots deleted. I don't understand why since it's not like it was hard core to begin with.

I wonder what that meas. If it includes a scroll saying "You are watching a free preview of Starz!..." then i'm not going to watch Starz, much.

Glad the free preview is coming!
Personally, we've never cared for Cinemax programming, even in the olden days!
I would drop it, but it's attached to HBO.
I'll never forget when the in-laws came to stay for a week, and one of Cinemax's late night rompers appeared...m-i-l was horrified! But, she didn't stop watching.

Oh my! Same thing happened to me in the 80's when my aunt and uncle visited from Missouri - same reaction. Her mouth went wide open - but she carefully turned so she could get a better view of the screen. Funny stuff!

You should be able to. The blackout rules are kind of confusing sometimes.

From my experience, all out of town sports channels black out their sporting events because of league rules. For example someone in the Detroit area would be able to watch the Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons on Fox Sports Detroit, but they would not be able to watch the Marlins, Panthers , and the Heat on Fox Sports Florida and vice versa.

Does anyone know if this preview goes through sunday night or just early sunday morning (or some time in between?) There is something I want to watch on one of the channels in the free preview that is on tomorrow afternoon.

Sunday afternoon should be fine. I would not record anything ending after 10 PM, or you could be out of luck.
Remember that AT&T is offering:
1 free month HD
1 free month Movie Pack (everything EXCEPT HBO and Cinemax)
3 free months HBO & Cinemax
1 free month Sports Pack
1 free month of various international packages
You must call AT&T to order these, or do them online. AT&T will start charging you when these promotional periods run out, so you must call on the last day to cancel.
And just like this preview, you can record something, cancel the preview, and watch it several months later iwthout issue.

Wow thanks for that info. I knew about the 3 free months of HBO/Cinemax (have those) but did not know abut the others. I'll have to take advantage of them.
