Does anyone think Uverse will offer either of these packages this year? Ive decided that if they dont that I'm headed to Direct TV to see some more sporting events. These packages coupled with no MLB network and no Extra innings has me looking at the Direct TV service. Nice service but painfully short in the sports area. I'm hoping that these get added before their seasons but if not, its hello Direct TV for me.

Those packages are only offered on DTV. Unless something major changes (which I don't expect) they won't be coming. At least not very soon. IMHO

Not true at all. Time Warner offers all 3 of these packages.

Those packages are not DirecTV exclusives. The are available on most other TV providers.

I dumped U-verse because they refuse to obtain these important sports channels. DirecTV is one alternative, but I went to Comcast and now am enjoying MLB Network and my brother-in-law is enjoying NBA TV. I didn't pick up MLB Extra Innings for the remainder of theis season, but next season will have that great option as well. It seems as if U-verse is following the DISH model of getting by on the cheap. In other words, the land based DISH.Don't expect U to pick up these highly desired channels any time soon , probably never.

Since Comcast is not available for me I'll have to go with Direct TV for my sports fix. Guess Uverse doesnt need our money.

Paul is just a shill for Comcrap. He left U-Verse some time ago, but still feels the need to bask in the glow. It's like saying "the circus isn't any fun" but still hanging around the tents.
Never say never. Just because a provider doesn't have something right now, doesn't mean anything for two years down the road, or even next month. Things can, and do change. As for AT&T U-Verse not having a certain feature, if they don't have enough subscribers, they probably don't have enough income to be siging carriage deals for expensive programming. (You can't fly the plane until you taxi down the runway. You can't add the roof until you build the walls, and so forth.)
There was a time when we thought that we wouldn't see over 2 streams of HD. Now, in some areas, we're seeing four HD streams into the house, and there are rumors that more streams could be on the way. There is a LOT on AT&T's plate. Just because they don't have something doesn't mean they're not working on it.
One thing you can do with U-Verse is get the online option and then connect a computer to your TV. If you go on the road, you can take your sports packages with you. If you order through cable, and are away for a week or so, you're out of luck.

Yeah, you are probably right. AT&T is a publicly traded company with stockholders and other investors to answer to. I'm sure they never concern themselves with issues like revenue, profits or making decisions to maximum the value of the company.

The main reason that my husband got Attuverse was because of "The Red Zone". Being an avid sports fan this was the ONLY reason that he switched from Dish to Attuverse. Well, the big day came and he went on the channel that the Red Zone was suppose to be on and NOTHING.....he almost died. So, we made a call to Attuverse to ask why this problem was happening to us. Now mind you we have the U450 plan...so we have most everything. However, these were the answers that we received from various representatives after speaking with them for over 3 hours.
1. You have to live on the East Coast in order to get it..........(We live in CA)
2. You have to have the H D Premier Sports Package.......(We already have it.)
3. You have to have a High Definition Enabler for an extra $10.00 per month. (We already have it...it automatic with the H D Premier Sport Package)
4. You have to pay $5.00 extra a month in order to get this program (We don't have to pay $5.00 a month extra because we have the H D Premier package which includes that fee.
5. You have to be up late at night or whenever it comes on to catch it.......(now that's right off the wall)
Finally I got a gal who also did not know the real answer to this...but after much hard work and digging and asking the right questions to the right people she told us the real reason that my sports loving husband could not get the Red Zone. Our Zip Code cannot receive this program....this is nothing to do with ATTuvers...it is something that is decided by the company who runs the Red Zone. I think that ATT should train their representatives just a little bit better than they do. This would alleviate the dumb and crazy answers that they are passing out to callers....and then you get a survey that says: RATE US....HOW DID WE DO.... You got to be kidding.

Absolutely WRONG. You don't not have to be on the East Coast to get Red Zone.
2. You have to have the H D Premier Sports Package.......(We already have it.)
Incorrect, you can order it without having the sports package.
3. You have to have a High Definition Enabler for an extra $10.00 per month. (We already have it...it automatic with the H D Premier Sport Package)
In most cases yes, this is true, if you don't have the U450 you have to pay the $10/month HD fee.
4. You have to pay $5.00 extra a month in order to get this program (We don't have to pay $5.00 a month extra because we have the H D Premier package which includes that fee.
This is true. You have to order the premium HD package which included Red Zone.
5. You have to be up late at night or whenever it comes on to catch it.......(now that's right off the wall)
Considering how it's only on during the Sunday games from Noon until 7PM that one is way out to lunch.
Finally I got a gal who also did not know the real answer to this...but after much hard work and digging and asking the right questions to the right people she told us the real reason that my sports loving husband could not get the Red Zone. Her comments were like swiss cheese - full of holes.

I wonder how Comcast and DirecTV can offer the important channels like MLB, NBA, etc? Guess they ain't making a profit. NOT! The best run companies just get it done.

Here is something interesting that I found on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLB_Extra_Innings
Comcast restricts its customers from viewing MLB Extra Innings games in HD. Comcast's restriction on HD broadcasts add to existing blackout restrictions in some broadcast markets. For example, Comcast customers living in the Houston-area broadcast market are restricted from watching the Texas Rangers. This blackout restriction is applied to both MLB Extra Innings and all local and regional broadcast stations.
It appears that Comcast cannot compete with the "big boys" by offering MLB Extra Innings in HD. Compared to other providers who offer MLB Extra Innings in HD, Comcast is "not ready for prime time."

If Comcast is so great, then why do so many people on this forum who had the service previously refer to it as "Comcrap"? In addition, since Direct TV is available everywhere, and it is so great considering it's huge sports package, why doesn't everyone subscribe to it instead of the vastly inferior U-Verse according to your opinion.
It took you two years to drop U-Verse. Why didn't you just make the change immediatly?

Inrteresting that Comcast doesnt show in HD. I mean it wouldnt be a dealbreaker for me if I could get it but in this day and age you'd think they could show it in HD.

Exactly how many refer to it as Comcrap?? What is your definition of "so many"?? There are some people who don't care about sports-like my mom. They probably wouldn't be interested in the best of sports programming that DirecTV provides. Now my mom is interested in Hallmark which U-verse doesn't carry. When I got U-verse there was no MLB CHannel. After it premiered I was lied to by several CSR's who stated that U would have the channel in time for the 2010 season. Also, when I first got U there were few problems with technical issues like HD PQ. It was a very good service. As time went on they actually got worse and the lousy HD PQ, constant freeze ups, pixelization , etc. were the worse ever in June 2010. I dumped U shortly after

Let's get back to the subject, which is NHL or NBA packages on Uverse. This is not the support forum for DirectTV or Comcast.

With the way U-Verse has been adding channels this year, I bet we get NBA TV before the season starts!

I can't speak for everyone, but I can say that in my case I was a subscriber to Directv and I would still be a subscriber with them if I could. What happened is my wife and I bought a house which was tucked a way in a beautiful, but tree-filled neighborhood. There are too many trees that block any possible sightline to Directv's sats, so we have no choice but to go with U-verse or the cable companies. And again in our case, it's either U-Verse, Insight Cable, or WOW cable. In all of those "options," not one of them offers the sports packages of MLB EI, NHL CI, or NBA. IF I had the choice of going with Directv again, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

With the NHL season only 3 weeks away I'd say they'd have to announce something pretty soon in order to sign people up before opening night. The clock is ticking.
