Same problem. AT&T notified me and suggested I change my sbcglobal password but I was already locked out. I tried the "forgot password" but AT&T Yahoo does not recognize the address. It's the address they gave me back in the 90s wheb they employed me!
I appreciate any help that comes my way.

PROBLEM SOLVED I've been on various related threads here for the last four days and go howhere until this afternoon.
Five days ago, before I joined this forum, I was all over att.com trying to get some help unblocking my email address and managed to generat a trouble ticket which popped up on my subaccount. Nothing else happened until this afternoon when a tech, TJ, called.
I explained the problem, she had me go onto an att address and access my blocked email account via temporary password which allowed me to login and set up a new password. Now it works with one exception.
I had 295 unread messages that were 95% spam from when I was hacked. Only about 80 emails download before I get an error message that the system timed out. When I try again it starts all over and I get the same messages again, and it times out again. Solved one problem and now I have another. It's like a dog chasing it's tail.

Same problem here. It is ridiculous that so many people have this problem yet it's still not fixed!

I am sorry that you're having an issue with your free email account. Since each account impacted is unique, there is not a "fix" we can apply. Each account has to be addressed individually.
We are happy to help as much as we can with your account. Will you please send a private message to ATTCustomerCare with your name, account number (if you use an AT&T service), the email address you're having a problem with, an email address where you CAN be reached, a phone number and the best time to contact you?

I am having the same problem with my sbcglobal.net accounts. This is very frustrating. I have sent a private message, but I don't hold much hope.

Our problem was solved recently. ATT customer rep called and authenticated the master account. This allowed him to reset the password of the hacked subaccount. Then, I could log in and set up further security. Kudos to ATT for fixing the problem. It takes a few days for them to respond. Be sure to include your phone number where they can reach you.

Unfortunately AT&T is not taking responsibility for resetting the password on the hacked and locked account because I do not have active DSL account with them anymore due to relocation. I still have AT&T Mobile account active.
Request AT&T to take ownership and reset the password. I can provide any and all details needed.
Forum members, Is there any Govt Agency I can take this issue to if AT&T does not reset my password?

Can you help me with the same issue:
My ATT/Yahoo merged email has apparently been comprimised. I can't login with my password, and my email contacts are receiving spam from me. I no longer have an ATT DSL account. When I attempt to recover my password, I'm prompted to enter my ATT billing information, such as billing zip code. I don't have an ATT Billing Zip Code anymore, and any previous billing zip code I enter says it's unrecognized. So, I can't follow any further to change/reset my password, and therefore can't access my email account. Can you please help? Thanks!

Hi Alex,
I see you helped someone with the same problem I am having. I have had my sbcglobal email acount for many many years and today I was hacked and I can no longer sign in. I have spoke to many people on the phone and no one has been able to help me. I started at yahoo and they gave me the phone # for AT&T as they said my account was merged with AT&T. Then I went through a few tech support people and all said they were unable to help. I can't reset on line as they send the temporary password to my yahoo account which is merged with the sbcglobal account. Is there any way I can get a new password set?

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here. My email address was hacked on 3-26-13 and the password was changed. I have not been able to reset this password by any means, not by ATT (with whom I spent more than SIX HOURS on the phone being bounced from one person to another that could not/would not help) and not through Yahoo, because I had merged my yahoo and sbcglobal emails a long time ago, it's now a freemail address and ATT will not reset it because my old ATT acct numbers are long gone (more than 3 years) and not in their system. At least,k that's what they tell me.
I left Att years ago because when I moved, they could not provide DSL or U-verse in my area. I thought I might like to sign up again if/when they began servicing my area but now, I would not use ATT for any reason whatsoever. I don't know why this forum topic has been marked "solved" because obviously the problem plaguing all of us has NOT been solved.

POSTSCRIPT: Expect NO help from ATT. I wrote ATT Customer Care a PM, providing sufficient detail to at least investigate the problem. This was their reply:
I am really sorry to hear that you cannot access your free email account. The reason that you cannot find help is because we do not provide support for free email accounts. Once your email became free we can no longer access the account to reset or reactivate. I know this is no help to you but there is nothing that we can do. The only way to reset the password is by clicking the forgot password link when signing in. http://att.yahoo.com/

Note that they suggest a solution that nearly all of us have tried, only to be referred back to ATT Customer Service. So NO ONE is maintaining or providing any support for our sbcglobal accounts. I just kissed my primary email address goodbye...except I can't even delete the account so the hackers will continue to use it fraudulently for God only knows how long.

We received a bogus email from AT&T regarding our telephone bill. Our email account was hacked and now we are locked out. Please help!!

My account was also hacked and now I cant back into it. It was setup many years ago and cant remeber by security question answers. I just need somone to assist with this as I have been bounced around between many differernt people at ATT and Yahoo.

How long does it take to get a response once I send an email to customer service? It is still showing as unread.
I would really like to get this resolved ASAP as its been almost a week since I could get into my email account.

I too am still waiting help on this almost 6 weeks after the initial lockout. I have sent a few messages to the ATTCustomerCare account, and have gotten a couple of responses that provide no additional assistance. My sbcglobal.net account is still suspended and I have missed bill payments, and important business emails as a result. I have attempted to be kind and courteous throughout this process, but that has gotten me nowhere except ignored. Please help, I don't want to have to start yelling and screaming at people.
