What to do about SLOW speed....

a short time after with a refresh the details are now this:

I have 3 ethernet wired computers connected to a netgear router which is in turn attached to the AT&T  modem. only 2 of the 3 computers have been on during this time, And only 1 of those 2 active during this time.

I think I am at the very end of a very long and old line...

my last speed test: (download now slightly higher than upload)

With the 3.0dB and 6.0dB noise margins, the decreased sync rate, and the high attenuation, I'm going to say the signal is probably INTERLEAVED by the help desk to increase the noise margins and make the connection more stable. When your DSL signal is interleaved, you will suffer latency and slow speeds. Low noise margins indicate interference. Isolate the modem on the line with nothing else connected. No filters, no phones, no faxes, no satellite TV receivers. Then record the port stats again and post here for comparison. If we can eliminate the interference, the help desk can remove the interleave, and you'll get speeds closer to 768K downstream.

I hate that I switched to ATT dsl, did so with Direct TV package. I've had a tech come twice, once a new modem, even though the one I had was new and one reworked some lines. I still lose my connection about twice an hour and my ping is all over.

I've never had a ping below 200ms and usually get around 500ms. Phone support is worthless, guy could barely speak english and I knew more than him.

Strange, if I reset my modem after waiting a few minutes I will get decent ping for about 5 minutes, I'm talking 44ms, but then it resorts back to unusable ping.

This is unacceptable, dsl is poor, service is poor. After two months of a worthless connection it appears they could care less about fixing it........I guess back to TW cable.
