Register AT&T McAfee ISS, But Dell PC Already Has McAfee Trial Version

Hi,

I just purchased a PC from Dell, which came with McAfee Anti-Virus and Firewall already loaded with a trial version, which will expire in about ten days.  I'm entitled to free McAfee ISS from AT&T.  How do I register it, please?  Do I really need to uninstall the existing version, just to install the ISS?

As they are probably not quite the same package (free vs paid for), uninstall and install would probably be your best bet. You could call McAfee support and see if they have a special registration key you can use on the Dell version, but I doubt that.

Download the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool and save it some where you can find it easily. http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

1. Uninstall your McAfee home user products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel:

   Windows 7 and Vista users

1. Close all McAfee program windows.
2. Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
3. Double-click Programs and Features.
4. Select McAfee SecurityCenter. (or whatever version you have)
5. Click Uninstall and follow any on-screen prompts.
6. Run the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool
7. Reboot and install the AT&T McAfee
