How do I tell if an email from ATT&T is legitimate?

I have received an email from ATT&T Online that says I MUST upgrade my email or I will be suspended.  I don't want to click the link without verifying this is an email from ATT&T.   I can't get a person on the phone.  How do I tell?

It is not likely that you would receive an email from AT&T saying that you MUST upgrade your email or get suspended.

With that said, the Yahoo! Email system did undergo some recent updates/upgrades, but you wouldn't be receiving an email about this. It would simply pop up the next time you logged in.

If you believe this is a possible phishing attempt, please forward the email to abuse@att.net

An easy way to tell is if the link is anything other than https://www.att.com/[more stuff]. If it is not a att.com site (ie att660.com, att550.com, etc) it is NOT a legitimate AT&T email.

Also look through the email itself for simple spelling mistakes. AT&T makes a significant effort to ensure all communications to our customers are professional and acceptable.

I also received an email about an upgrade. Good question - Is this legitimate?

Look at message header. Right-click on email in your in-box, select View Full Header.

My email, just like what you described, shows Reply-To: sis_irish@yahoo.com near the top, and Return-Path: canada_funds@yahoo.com near the bottom.

Copy the full header, then forward it to abuse@att.net, after you paste the full header in the body of your email to att.net.
