I just tried again to send email from the problem email address and got this error: "The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'xxxxxx@bellsouth.net'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com(1)', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 From address not verified - see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/man
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Blessings, Lisa

Nobody at ATT knows what they are doing, so don't bother calling. Anyway, last night I got an email from them that said I had to verify my email address. Here it is:
"Dear AT&T Internet Services Member,
We have received questions regarding the following error message which is received by customers when they send e-mail using a non-verified e-mail address:
“Unable to send the message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 553 From: address not verified.”
If you have received this error message, you will continue to receive it for emails sent with a non-verified address until you verify your Yahoo! email address or any other non AT&T email addresses (e.g., name@company.com, name@college.com, name@yahoo.com, etc.). Verification instructions are available on the AT&T Help site http://helpme.att.net/article.php?item=11646. If you have already verified your non AT&T email address and are no longer receiving the 553 error message, please disregard this email.
Thank you for your attention to this matter as we work to improve your Internet service. Our goal continues to be to make you a very satisfied customer. If you are experiencing any issues and would like to speak to a customer support representative, please contact us at 1-877-722-3755.
Sincerely,
AT&T Internet Services"
Okay, that link in that email above, DOES NOT WORK! All it does is take you to the ATT page. Worthless. I looked all over their website for article 11646. Anyway, this link is where I did go to verify my email address:
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.scrumb=0&.pa
After I verified the ID that wasn't working, mine started working again. Although, ALL my email for both my ID's began coming into one folder instead of separate folders, but I deleted my mail rule for that and made a new one and so far this morning, everything seems to be working. I don't know if it was a fluke or if what the email said to do worked. Good luck. If anything else happens on my end, I'll let you know.

So, does AT&T plan on fixing this anytime soon or do they just want to lose all their customers?

Thank you for the reply. As I stated earlier, ATT ran through all my settings with me about 5 times last night, even though I knew they were already correct. Nothing has changed with my settings. It is definately something on AT&T's end, not mine.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's anything on my end because the error's keep changing. All day yesterday my email worked fine. Now this morning NEITHER if my email ID's will pull in the email's and I'm getting the following ID for BOTH email ID's.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'xxxxxxxx', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Any ideas about what's happening now? Thanks.

hi Lisa!
if it's true that the POP server of Yahoo! is down, you could still send and receive email using the webmail. you may access your emails online via att.yahoo.com/mail website. then just login using your AT&T email ID.

If I do what you say, will it make my computer less secure or anything? Sorry, I don't know much about this. I just checked my accounts under properties > servers and I have "Log on using secure password authentication" is unchecked and "My server requires authentication" is checked. What should I check or uncheck or are they already set at what you suggested?
Thanks for the help.
Blessings,
Lisa

@ Lisa,
to change the POP port setting as suggested above by ropdqprinting :
open Outlook Express --> go to TOOLS --> ACCOUNTS --> select your email profile --> PROPERTIES --> go to ADVANCED tab --> under INCOMING MAIL (POP3), uncheck the box "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" --> hit OK. close and re-open OE. then see if you can start receiving your emails.
BTW, unchecking the option "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" will automatically change the port from 995 back to the default 110 port.

I originally started this thread and after my last post, my email through Outlook was working fine, so I thought. I have just discovered in the last few days that I have several emails now going into my "spam" folder in my AT&T/yahoo webmail account instead of coming into my Outlook account. These are legitimate emails and not spam and I just missed out on a great deal via Craigs List because the seller's email went into the spam folder in AT&T instead of coming into my Outlook account. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Thank you.

hi Lisa!
only the emails in the webmail's INBOX are downloaded to your outlook program. you need to mark those valid emails as NOT SPAMS so that they will be directed to the INBOX folder again in the future.
just login at att.yahoo.com/mail website using your email ID. go to the SPAM FOLDER, open the valid emails and then click on NOT SPAM button on top of the page. this will train your email not to recognize those senders as spammers.
good luck! ![]()

- Check your mail client settings and make sure your user name and password are correct
- Check to see if you are using a firewall or anti-virus. If so, disable the software and try again.
NOTE: If able to send and receive when the firewall or anti-virus is disabled, there is a configuration issue with the software. You need to contact your computer vendor for support.
- Delete and recreate the account making sure the settings are correct.
NOTE: To recreate the AT&T email account on Outlook Express, use the link mentioned below: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB4008
Error 0x800CCC92
- Check your Outlook Express settings, and make sure your username and password are correct.
- Reset password to a different password and verify the ability to check email in webmail.
NOTE: You may use the link mentioned below to reset the password:
http://att.yahoo.com/changepassword
- Recreate email account in Outlook Express.
If the issue persist, it is recommended that you contact the AT&T eChat helpdesk.

Task 'xxxx@att.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC1A) : 'Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.'
There is no reason one should need to 'recreate' an account. Changing the server shhould suffice. Plus, it will mess up the .pst folder. What is the problem?Re: Cannot receive email via Outlook Express

Hello sjc3dbjl,
Please, accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience that you might have experienced.
If you are not receiving any error about blocking email, this indicates that there is no block from AT&T on your email account.
You may also check, if her email address is added in block list under your AT&T email account, if it is please remove his email account from the block list, you may use the steps mentioned below to check the same and also suggest your friend to check the same (whether your email address is added in block list of his email account if it is, suggest him to remove your email account from his block list).
To unblock email address using AT&T Powered by Yahoo! All-New Mail, do the following:
- Sign into the AT&T Powered By Yahoo! Webmail.
- Click Options, and then More Options.

- Click Spam.

- If you see any your friend's email account in the block email link, select that email address..
- Click on Remove.

After trying all the steps mentioned above, if the issue persists, it is recommended that you contact AT&T eChat support.
If you are in 'AR, CA, CT, IL, IN, KS, MI, MO, NV, OH, OK, TX, & WI' area, You may click on the following link to connect to a chat agent:
