Hi,
I use Windows Vista - Mail. I've had Bellsouth.net email forever and prior to switching to U-verse, my email worked intermittently due to the AT&T servers and the issues that we've all ready about in this community. Eventually the connection is made and I can receive/send emails.
On Wednesday, I had U-verse installed and since then I've tried the Inbound/Outbound recommended server settings inbound.att.net/outbound.att.net and they don't work for sending... I've tried the pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com and they don't work for sending. I receive email sometimes not on the first attempt, but eventually.
But here's the thing, out of the 4 Bellsouth.net email accounts, one is working perfectly. So I set the other 3 accounts exactly like the one that works and they still fail to send emails.
Additionally, when I use the inbound/outbound att.net servers it asks for my username/password over and over and over... til I finally get mad and cancel the window.
I contacted support and they were the usual not very helpful support... since webmail works it's a problem on my end with Windows Mail. Very nice support, NOT.
Here is an example of the error:
Account: '??????@bellsouth.net', Server: 'inbound.att.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Incorrect username or password. (#YSH002)', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
When I know it's correct because I can use it to login to webmail.
OR
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: '??????@bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
The Question marks are not the account name, I'm not displaying that right now.
Yes I've triedd to use the 465/995 ports as well and nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Christine

Well, I don't know how... but I got all this working about 5 days ago... and all accounts worked great until today! I'm back to one account not allowing me to login because it doesn't like my password. The same password I use to login from Yahoo. I'm really over this ridiculousness.
