This is for someone at the company. I would hope they would have someone watching this but as an ISP without a tech support or complaints email address my hopes aren't too high! I have been on a listserve email list for about ten years. A month ago the list administrator changed servers. I have not gotten any emails from this list {edited for privacy}since he did this. I contacted him and said that the ISP is blocking emails off this server. I called ATT tech support, told them this. They did not know what I was talking about, however for a small charge he would direct me to the real tech support. I did not do this as I'm not going to pay for a problem that ATT created. So please unblock this server. If you don't know what I'm talking about or can't do it, then I guess I can find another ISP he can.
Thanks,
Jerry

Thanks,
Just to let you know the email list is {edited for privacy} not {edited for privacy} I don't know if someone changed that as a joke or if it's something else going on.

So Do I and I have posted on this forum with no replies. You would think that ATT would get on this if this means losing customer or security. Emails are important and we can not just randomly get these blocked because there is something wrong with ATT.

Did you send Alex a PM, also?
Or are you saying nobody replied in the forum?

I have posted in another thread titled Blocked emails and slow emails with no replys.
Since I had no replies I have addressed this further to anyone else but this is a big issue since I get emails generated from my site and some of them but not all do not arrive and this has been occurring within the last month.
Also I have PCI compliance emails from my scan company's email generating service and from talking to them they have been blocked and this has been going on since november. If in the later case there is a virus issue then I need to get on their service and pass the buck to them.
However the former case , emails from my site - there are no virus problem and this site has not been blocked , random email just dont arrive. I can tell when they go out and when they should hit my bucket and some dont.
No I have checked spam - not there and I have double checked the delete folder but these are so important and so frequent that they will not be there. I have even checked all my other organzational folders.

Has this been resolved yet?
I have same problem and no one seems to care.
Their system of blacklisting is somewhat arbitrary and though it has its points it has no merit.
There are likely to be a lot more people affected by this in the future because they don't show signs of stopping.
And they want to blame the user first so you have to spend 3 hours on phone explaining that not only have you checked these setting twenty times now but since you (I) am IT at a business i should know what im doing.
I also know what they are doing and i would be fired for doing it that way.
My boss hates to lose business.

i have been able to confirm that all my problems with incoming mail dissappearing are related to a blacklisting by reason of missmatched forward and reverse DNS
Yes att does block server that it decides are not set up according to its standards.
If you can establish that thats what is happening then you should have the person or company sending the email contact
abuse@att.net
Or whatever the abuse is for your provider.
They need to sternly request that their server be un-blocked.
Then there is a 50 50 chance that that will happen.
good luck

To whom it may concern:
I am owner of a web development company located out of SE Michigan, and also an ATT business / wireless customer. Roughly about a month ago we began receiving tons of forwarded emails from some of our clients showing 550 / 521 BLOCKED FOR ABUSE various return messages for emails they sent to their customers via their websites. Today alone we receive 3 of these complaints to resolve already, and not even end of the day.
I have read through the various topics here, replies, and even various other sites where people are complaining about either A) being ATT customer and not received their emails and B) having emails sent to ATT customers being rejected, and I am honestly completely frustrated with this entire situation. The reasoning you have been giving people online here of why emails may be blocked are completely scripting and more importantly i can prove at least in my case, totally inaccurate.
Using two cases from today as examples. In each case a client website was sending out automated SALES ORDER CONFIRMATION emails to an ATT customer, both ATT customers of which have been long time customers at both sites and confirmed neither of them EVER flagged an email from these sites as "spam".
1. Each domain has a PTR RECORD, REVERSE DNS RECORD.
2. Each of the individual site IPs which were blocked by ATT, come back 100% CLEAN when doing a lookup against all major blocklists using www.mxtoolbox.com, spamhaus.org, spamcop.com etc. Here is a perfect example:
Renae*****@Bellsouth.net (changed for privacy) SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: host gateway-f2.isp.att.net [207.115.11.16]: 550-67.225.197.56 blocked by ldap
u=rblmx,dc=att,dc=net 550 Error - Blocked for abuse.
Block / blacklist 100% clean for above IP of 67.225.197.56:
http://www.mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=bla
3. This customer clearly indicated when asked they NEVER blocked or reported any emails from this site as spam at anytime.
4. Each of our hosting servers uses various anti-spam software for LINUX hosting, which will:
a. Do a spam score check against all incoming emails - if it scores over 8 (which is very light) it will push that message into their spam folder or flag it as spam, depending on THEIR settings.
b. Do same spam score check against all OUTBOUND emails - if it scores over 8 it will not allow the email to go out and reject back to the hosted senders email so they have opportunity to correct the issues.
So not even our own servers are considering these emails spam, nor are these IPs on any blacklist out there, domain DNS records are setup 100% to current standards, customers in question who did not receive said emails made it clear when asked that they NEVER flagged any emails as spam from said site.
Having worked with hosted servers with effective security since 1998 with my team and knowing what to research, that would only leave ATT is obviously blocking these emails without notifying their customers, but filtering and deleting said emails without justification.
This is absolutely ridiculous where we went from needing to send out a single email to abuse department at ATT for every few months on a website owners behalf, to 3 today alone. Over past month it has been a total so far of 19 client websites who complainted about this and asked us to help them resolve said issue, two of which who were so upset by time sensative emails not getting to ATT customers that they completely CANCELLED all ATT services.
I do understand that spam filtering has become a necessary evil in this day and age, but it is apparent whatever spam filtering your system recently upgraded to has been creating tons of issues and systematically deleting emails before your customers even see them vs. flagging them as spam and letting them decide.
As such I am requesting the following questions be answered ASAP as I am honestly very sick of having to try to report issus to your abuse department when its not even abuse and just daily business emails sent to ATT customers who have A) purchased something B) opted in or C) made inquiries on websites.
1. What recently changed in your system that is causing these increasingly challenging issues?
2. This has been ongoing for over a month now and getting progressively worse, resulting in ATT loosing customers. What does ATT plan to do to correct this issue?
3. How can we, as a hosting / email provider avoid these issues since we are already doing EVERYTHING possible per industry standards to avoid this type of situation?
You may feel free to respond to me in public forum, which I honestly think will help to rebuild some confidence in your company, or respond privately. I would even be willing to discuss by phone if you send me a private response, but something needs to change.
I await your response.

I have the same problem: emails sent from my hosting service (sales, tech support, and my php scripts) are returned to sender with the notation "blocked for abuse". All I want to do is send email at an average of less than 1 per day.
I have no idea who is refusing to solve the problem, AT&T or the hosting service, or both. But I have another question. Is it possible use a php script to direct the mail to att's server, outbound.att.net I believe, with authenticating user name and password?

Alex, your account has private emails blocked.
Problem below:
Alex,
I, too, am having trouble receiving emails from certain servers.
Listservers from NASA, GameStop, and IdeaScape emails all vanish.
I don't know how many other emails are disappearing - but I have ALL spam filtering off on the accounts in question -
There is NO reason for them to bounce in any way. I think your firewall on your email server might be the issue (allowing incoming mail with certain addresses).
PLEASE FIX THIS!
Thanks,
Ed

JUST SPENT 63 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH AT&T 'SUPPORT'.
DISCOVERED SEVERAL THINGS:
The Yahoo Support Group MAY or MAY NOT be aware of this problem.
The People in Tier one will not escalate your call to a human being up the line.
